Doesn't seem like a crime to me.

Ah, apologies. Now I really understand what you ask for. Well, there is no straightforward way to do this. You can suggest that in the feedback thread, but I don't see that being implemented any time. As you said, there can be runs not on YouTube, and there can be more issues with this as well.

You can maybe make a script that will use the site API to get a list of IL records by a game name:

  • Get the ID of a game by its name
  • Get the categories of the game by its ID, and choose one of the per-level categories of the game
  • Take the top-1 records of the chosen category, and make a list of links of all the retrieved runs (while taking only YouTube links)
  • Then use one of the methods in the link above to generate an automatic playlist by the list of links You will have to account for sub-category variables if there are any.

Another option is to click on each individual run, but then press on "Watch later". You will still have to do this on all the levels; but you can do that quickly enough, and then you will have an automatic playlist of "watch later" in YouTube, consisting of all the chosen runs.

Note that this is assuming that each run actually contains a video of that run alone. In CircloO 2 for example, I built one video with all my IL runs, and then submitted the runs for each level with the relevant timestamp in the video. I've seen some people doing that technique in several games.

Thanks! I prefer not to clog this thread, this can happen.

Okay, to answer with more details: If you request any game to the site and it gets accepted, you automatically becomes the moderator for that game. You can't request any games until your account is 7 days old, and the requests queue is quite long right now.

For other games, most active moderators don't look to add more moderators if there is no need. Game moderators are moderators for a specific game, so you can't really just ask to be a game moderator in general like that.

You are very new to the site, don't worry about it for now.

Well, if you don't know which videos you want in your playlist, you certainly can't add them, eh?

Looks fun! Is there any discord channel or something for this game, for discussion or contact?

I think the site rules and moderation rules pages should be more accessible. Right now you need to pass a series of unrelated pages just to get to them, if you don't remember the exact URL.

For example, to reach the general site rules ( https://www.speedrun.com/rules ), you need to: Enter All Games page --> Request Game --> enter the link to Moderation Rules --> enter the link to general site rules.

Edit: just found out that there is a link to those site rules in the "About" page, but the links are so small and I never noticed them before.

Regarding site rules about runs and emulation: The "general gameplay rules" are rules that state what is banned and what is allowed in runs, and are very common across so many games, so that game moderators won't have to state the obvious on any game and category (like "Cheat codes are disallowed"). But still, moderators/community for a certain game can decide to override those rules in some cases, and it's perfectly fine if that is the consensus of the majority of the community.

The general rules state that "Tool-assisted emulator features such as save-states, re-recording, or frame advance are not allowed". Your case of using save-states is a bit tricky - you don't use them during the runs for an unfair advantage (like resetting a death), but you do them just to save the time of a runner before the actual run starts. That is not a bad thing and I personally don't find any problem with that. If I had a physical copy of the game and console, it probably would be very irritating to spend 2-3 minutes before each run if I want to do the manipulation, but I can also always move to an emulator with ease and do the manipulation there.

That leads me to your final points:

  • You are not fine with this rule JUST BECAUSE you as a moderator said so. Game moderators should represent the speedrunning community of the game. I obviously don't know the history of this specific rule - who came up with it first, if it was requested by several runners or not, if there were any discussions about it in your Discord channel, etc. But, the fact that this rule is here after several years; the majority of runners are using an emulator; and also that the rule was never an issue for the runners (by your words), means that the entire community have no no problem with it.

  • About comments saying this rule provides an unfair advantage to non-console players - maybe they are right, but it's also subjective. The emulator players don't have any change in the gameplay itself by using the emulator, console players can do the same thing. Cutting time from setting up runs is a convenience to the runners.

  • About comments saying that the rule seems like cheating - I wouldn't pay much attention to that if the comments are coming from external people that don't run the game or don't know it. For example, there are comments out there by people (not speedrunners) that think using glitches in games are also cheating and thus should be banned.

@rm Can you explain the last question?

As I understood, If you talk about why developers of a certain game can't (automatically) moderate the leaderboard of their game on the site, that's because there is no connection between the two. Game moderators are volunteers that are responsible for managing the leaderboards, categories and rules for speedrunning a game, and also verifying runs of other people. Of course, developers can moderate their game if they originally requested it to the site, or if they were added as moderators by the super-mod.

I think you can download the required .NET framework straight from the LiveSplit popup question, with no need to download it directly from microsoft.

Minor idea: In the user profile info, split the "Runs" stat into "Full game runs" and "IL runs", because running ILs in any game can skew the total number upwards (especially if a game contains a high number of levels).

The first bug is just a different version of the "site is under pressure" issue, the page loads but some assets don't load correctly. For the "site is under pressure" in general, it's a common issue with the site which is currently unable to handle a large amount of people browsing it at the same time (usually it happens around 20:00-23:00 UTC).

Regardless of ROBLOX specific handling of game requests, you don't need any visible timer when requesting games to the site.

Hello and welcome.

Game-related questions you want to ask in the forums of the specific game. The DKC series leaderboard ( https://www.speedrun.com/dkc ) specifically don't have forums on the site, so you can go to their discord channel instead.

Just reading the game rules might also answer some of your questions.

@andypanther Wether if games like that "belong" to the site or not, it doesn't matter - game request rules that were added in time are not applied retroactively, and this game was requested about 3 years ago.
