Welcome!
So, there's this neat little function: https://www.speedrun.com/users#ph
Good luck on your runs.
Welcome! Haven't really started messing around with Flash games yet, but hopefully will soon one day. Cheers!
After 550 attempts got a sub 8 in Princess Rescue. Now I can finally go back to playing stuff worth streaming soon! Hoozah.
As someone who streams with similarly terrible uploading speeds, something probably needs to come down a notch. It's not impossible to stream at ..80, but I doubt it can be done at 1080p.
Lol you are right, confused myself there. Didn't realize it was on Super Mario 64.
So the SM64 run links another rejected run? Well, then yea, can't really tell what's going on for SM64 there. I presume no video for 1st place rejected?
Even weirder he said "my runs are getting rejected for no reason, even when it doesn’t beat a WR!" but the rejected run that just links a deleted run is for 0-star first place?
Lol, I was just looking at your message HowDenKing and looking at the runs when the immature mod was just removed as mod, and the rejected run was moved back to pending. So, yeah, I can image getting a run back like that being like wtf? Hopefully you should be good to go, cook.
Might it have something to do with this?
I have a pretty crummy webcam, but I've been needing to get one anyway. Tbh, I wanted to do both, since the GoPro is closest I guess to what the eye could see. Local could be fine, I just didn't look forward to trying to sync it up. =[ Getting them cameras into OBS is pretty essential for making it super convenient.
But, once I get past level 90, and then can do it consistently, I'll probably record with the crummy one anyways, since I'll never get close to a record score anyways.
Not a great idea to spam the forum asking how to become a mod.
If a run is getting rejected, does it not have a reason for rejection in it? Consider posting in the thread specifically for the game, asking about the rejected runs. I'd be willing to point you in the right direction if I know the game. I'll assume it is Mario Kart Wii.
So, go here: https://www.speedrun.com/mkw/forum and start a thread and ask about your runs. Chill out and give someone time to respond. Usually people comment on the run they are rejecting explaining why it was rejected, but if that that didn't actually happen, then ask in the forum. Given that the game already has 6 moderators, I'm doubting another getting added is pretty low odds. Your best bet would be first trying to figure out why your runs are getting rejected before trying to become a moderator for a really popular game...
Sometimes the Stop Streaming / Stop Recording functions on OBS can freeze on me, and even after closing the software, Alt-Ctrl-Delete reveals another component of OBS. Don't know much about the component other than it appears to be the connection from software to internet. Sometimes when OBS freezes, you have to manually restart that one piece of software manually to get to restart again. Otherwise, it just sits there and apparently continues to record and/or stream.
So when closing out, use your Program Manager to make sure all OBS related things have successfully closed. Outside that, I wouldn't know without more info. Good luck!
No problem. Happens all the time. Quickest way to is to visit the game page and select "Forums" on the left-hand side menu thingy. That will let you sort of talk specifically to people playing the game; and for the most part, the games and the moderations are sort of self-contained, which makes it possible to moderate some 1000's of games and such. Good luck and nice job on your glitch.
This is really something that would probably be best addressed in the forum that's found on the specific game's page. Generally in an any% run, triggering the ending cutscene or credits is in and of itself enough; but as previously mentioned, it's sort of game specific.
I'd imagine either the rules for Any% would be changed to allow it, or some other category would be created where essentially beating the boss instead of just beating the game is allowed with the specific category's rule set.
Best people to ask though, are the mods for that game and/or series.
For the most part, a lot of features are more for aesthetic and neat value. Generally though, putting splits in the right place lets you know whether the run you are currently in is even worth continuing. I couldn't tell you whether I was 2 1/2 hours in or 3 hours into a game without at a timer, and 3 hours in might be way too slow to get a PB/WR. So you know to go ahead and reset without wasting the time finishing a losing run. Not useful in all games, but the sum of best times is pretty useful for giving you a baseline for an entire run by adding the sum of fastest times for individual segments. That can be pretty useful for identifying areas where long runs can be improved.
"LiveSplit" is the name of the software lots use. "WSplit" is another. "Splits" just refers to the in between markings in a full-game run. If you just started the clock at 0 and let it run for the whole game, there would be no splits. "Splits" are the moments in game-play use to split the time up into more manageable segments.
Does it get in the way visually? Depends on the game and stuff. One game I play on, I have to pretty careful not to click on it by mistake (as I haven't got my second screen set up yet, so my timer lays over the gameplay). The tiny amount of time lost pushing the split button during a run, if any at all, is usually so insignificant to not worry about, unless you literally need to shave every millisecond.
Y'alllll. So I got a Perplexus Original. It's pretty fun, albeit me being pretty terrible at it. However, at some point I'd like to start running it. Seems pretty straightforward that one can record with a GoPro and just upload said video when a run is complete. But is it possible to stream from a GoPro into something like OBS, or are there any specific cameras you need to do so?

Okay, so, I got Primal Rage to work... kinda...
In case anyone is even vaguely interested, it's important when asked to insert a new disk during emulation, that one F11's out of the emulation, and then ejects the disc in slot 0 before trying to redirect the next disc in slot 0, and then hits "Start emulation" to resume the emulation.
I'm not sure all these steps are necessary IRL to actually play Amiga games, but if so that's hilarious, and I'm sorry for people who were born before I was and had to endure this.
4 disks.
Insert Disk 1 / Run Emulation / Game Loads Up 30 seconds / Asked to Insert Disk 2 / Wait 30 seconds / Insert Disk 3 / Wait 30 seconds / Asked to Insert Disk 1 Again / I do see, and this leads to that character selection page. I select the Trex / Insert Disk 2 / 30 second load character one / Insert Disk 3 / 30 second load character / Asked to Insert Disk 1 Again / Still at character loading screen but doesn't say loading under either character, wait 30 seconds / Insert Disk 2 / Same screen wait 5 seconds / Insert Disk 3 / Wait 20 seconds, match loads / plays 8 seconds with the mouse / Simulated Amiga Software Crash.
Lemmings works great but haven't gotten to a point where a disk needs to be changed. I also got Chuck Rock including the disk change necessary to start the game. It runs well too. Inputs are still a little strange. Sometimes have to use mouse, sometimes keyboard, even though only the latter is set.
Hello. I've been testing out WinFellow. It appears I got everything to work. It actually looks and runs pretty well; you can definitely tell the difference versus MSDOS versions.
Only problem, one major, one minor.
Major one is I don't understand how diskloading works.
It appears there are four vessels for floppy disks. Generally, I insert all disks. I can start the game off disk one no problem, but generally somewhere in the game, usually pretty early, the game will ask my to put disc 2 in slot 0. So, I can back out, and insert the second disk into the first slot, and go back to emulation, but nothing seems to happen or to work?
The minor problem is I can't figure out why keyboard inputs aren't working (mouse works fine, more or less).
Anyone have familiarly with Amiga computers and how disc loading was suppose to work?
Try a couple Atari 2600 games. Sometimes I'll take like 3 minutes to do a run on Decathlon or something short if I'm just stuck waiting for something for like 10 minutes.
