Never got the game going too fast oO

You have a lot of lag? Is that an old computer?

There is no game time for single segment run… Plus that would mean no splits and no easy way to mesure progression.

ingame time is good for individual levels but single segment runs on the whole game should use real time. This is what is done for most games.

Hey graveyarddolfin, be careful what you accept, brmbrmcar had enter a wrong time not matching the video, 45 instead of 49, you need to check this before accepting a run. I fixed it. (it’s still first place anyway)

@namesnipes : So you are still around here! Any chance at seeing a single segment run from you?

I guess it’s linked to twitch.tv and if you stream on twitch and set the game to supertux it will appear there. Just guessing.

I won’t work on it as I first want to go below 20 minutes on main island and I expect the forest world will change a lot in the next release. But if some people have runs to submit for the forest world I can open the category.

Sorry I did not post it here but a fork in the road got optimized already. The TAS is at 45:32.

But nice jump at the end, I did not know this was possible, in the TAS I bounce on the enemy before instead. I will try to do this jump in my next run :-)

BTW how is your best time less than 8 seconds in your video at the end?

@Dugglez Nice run but just so you know, there is no dog in the gif you posted ^^ Also it’s funny how we do not run the game the same way, you use a big tux and go up after the bifurcation…

@brmbrmcar: I prefer to limit the number of moderator for now, you can post and edit your own guide it seems as you did it so it seems enough, Dugglez can open a forum post for input for his guide and put it in himself, otherwise each time someone wants to participate in his effort we’ll have to add one more mod.

I don’t get what you mean, I use the 0.4.0 version under GNU/Linux with no problem. Which distro are you using? I’m pretty sure you can install the 0.4.0 or at least make it run.

If you send me a link to a run of the 100% category I will add it but until then I’m not sure anyone want to run this.

You don’t have to use a splitting tool, it was just an advice from Dugglez. (But I second this advice :-))

I’m certainly not ^^ I’m doing ~25min these days when I run, but I’m still hoping to get a (almost) deathless run at some point and go bellow 20min. I’m still a bit afraid of when namesnipes is going to run the full game, seeing how well he does on individual levels.

I think it’s only there in developer mode… Better to avoid it when speedrunning.

Wow! I just saw that you are running the development version, the ice in the hole level is the wrong one. You can’t do that and post it in Any% 0.4.0, it’s not 0.4.0! We could open a category for development version but it would be kind of weird as it changes all the time. Please run the 0.4.0 in your next runs. Rejecting this one, sorry.

Some comments I had started to right down before seeing it was the wrong version: Still a pretty good run brmbrmcar, you should beat Dugglez time at some point. You should really work on getting some levels full speed as a small tux, you will save a lot of time. 23rd airborn would be a good training for some full speed platforming, you did more than 1:10 in your run while it should be bellow 1 minute. You should not take the secret path at the beginning of under the ice as it’s slower and you don’t need coins. The second secret with the 100 coins is useless as well. Same thing in «or is it just me?», the secret is a flower and you already had the red hat, plus you don’t want a big tux when the ceiling is as low as in this level, a small tux is better.

Which categories do you want to add? Are you running the game already? Tell us a bit more and maybe start posting a few times on the IL to show you know the rules.

I read the description, that’s why I did not reject it right away, because it said «discuss it in the forums». But I still don’t see how this allows you to validate an invalid run without asking in the forums first.

I edited the run so that the video and the time match. If restarting the recording is to complicated for you (don’t really see why) you can link a longer video with in the comment «run starts at <time>»

Hey Dugglez, you should have openned a thread in the forums before submitting and validating a run with the wrong time. Your run is 56 seconds, not 51. I guess your point is to show that the best time is 51, but then you should record the 51 run. I will post a run for the bridge as I intended to do so since some time to avoid the empty leaderboard. (But I was trying to beat the Any% WR to get it under 20. I also worked on the TAS a bit)

In the end I optimized stone cold which was way more complicated than expected and only saved 2 seconds ^^
