That's just a qwerk or challenge added to a speedrun not worth a category imo. Plus enforcing rules for it and evidence is more trouble then its worth.
Just because you add your own little qwerk to a run outside the game its self does not mean it warrants a category for it. Also don't try and advocate for others, and a few doesnt warrant a reason to add a category unless it can be done so within means of the game and not around some arbitrary meme/challenge that cannot be enforced by just game footage.
TDLR By all means you wanna handicap your self for a run go for it But we don't need to create a category just because you do.
Not sure why a community that doesn't want/already have one would wan't someone not part of it doing their discord server...? But as someone else said not every community needs/wants one based on size is normally the thing and some people are fine with just forums for communication.
I currently don't have a real opinion on this but, It would be nice to have a sister site to do as such. Name would be an issue and linking them together if possible would be a good idea. There are plenty of games I'm sure allot of us play that may have both Speedrun goals and Highscore parts to them as well and be interesting to be able to do so within the existing community. Either way I'll conform to w.e is decided, but I do not want to go else where to do as such as I find it nicer to be able to link everything in one place or easily find it as such.

There is this kool feature discord has called prune members, which if people are inactive and have not posted in X days they will be kicked and can just join back should they wish to. Maybe use that if you want I used it several times in community servers to remove excess people from the list that had not ever posted since joining usually every 30 days if thats a big deal. But I don't think they should ever need to ask to be part of something unless its just a private server for friends thats different.
Schedule draft is almost complete. Expect some changes as I add the newly confirmed runs as we push towards the last few weeks before the marathon starts.

I'm gonna have to agree with the points made by several of the members here, and that trying to create a marathon based on what you have discussed I can't see going that far. It's better to have a genuine goal or will to create and run a marathon as it does take allot of work and creating social links with other people, this means that you have to be professional on some level not just as a runner but more so as the organizer or people that are involved with what ever the event may be if you wish to get to best positive results. GDQ has its guidelines because of its size and the number of people that wish to take part in it, but that does not mean there are not other places to also go for watching or trying to take part in. Plenty of other amazing marathons were listed as alternatives and even tho smaller by comparison they all have their own goals and do very well for what they wish to do every year they have been organized by the people involved.
I think you should rethink your approach or goals with this discussion because if you are indeed serious about making a marathon happen be prepared to do allot of work and social connecting to make things happen. I've only been working on this kinda stuff going on 2 years now and just trying to be part of what ever I can, but bashing other events if that is whats going on won't help you build those connections to make another marathon/event or whatever it may be successful. It's always better to have people to work with that have experience to offer or guide you rather then going in alone.
Anyways Good Luck with whatever course of action you see fit but I do hope you consider some of what we have said at the very least. You are by all means free to create a marathon and do as you please but just keep in mind its a fair bit of work that does not give you immediate results without effort and connections.

For everyone else I very much appreciate that you submitted and would hope you do again next year. I will always look to mix things up and have a variety of stuff for everyone so things will not always be the same. If we do end up with spots opening up because of dropped runs or no shows I will let you all know in the Discord about possible time slots to get your run in if we can.
