Discoveries continue.
Astro Knights: Back button to immediately get to the planets and help the knights. Lunar Colony: Another stupid broken one. You can back button into the underground scene after raising the last pillar. Twisted Thicket: Back button into the tree with the Elf Queen. Game Show: Back button into the top of Holmes' lair to get the flash drive, then back into the center to reset him.
Seems a bit late to ask when you've already done it, but I certainly have no objections. Also, I will start grinding to get both my records back tomorrow, so don't expect to keep them for very long.
After checking this myself I can agree. For the sake of legacy, please move my 2 runs that aren't already on the Any% Board over before you do.
Ask in the forum for the game. Much more likely someone who knows the answer will see it that way.
I can say that to avoid this problem in the future, there's a setting in OBS to specifies what format the file is saved in, and you can set that to MP4. I think it's in the recording tab. I'm sorry to say I can't help you with this one though.
Depends on the rules the game's community set. You'd have to ask there.
More Stuff. I've started looking into integrating Back Button Abuse like is done on Spy and Shark Tooth. Here's what I've found so far. All of the following require resetting from the menu instead of the overworld map to preserve the page history.
Red Dragon: You can back button to the mountain with the cloud dragon and immediately start the dragon battle. Cryptids: You can back button to the scene where you're on Gretchen's plane and free Bigfoot. Early Poptropica: You can back button into the Giant's garden and get the bucket.
I strongly suspect this is doable in some form nearly every old style island. Expect an update soon.
@Former_Inputslave Did you create an account just to comment on this thread? I noticed that your account was created right before you made your first post. I feel like you're speaking as someone who either has no experience with speedrunning or you tried it and it wasn't your thing. Normal gaming might be more fun that speedrunning for you, and while I can agree that would be true for some games, I find that speedrunning creates a high replayability factor that normal gaming tends to lack.
Hi @leugim_678. Fragbringer was online 6 days ago and GrumbleBottom was online 21 days ago. Neither of these qualify as inactive. They will verify your run soon enough. Be patient.
Wild West: Tame Elmer and get the letter from the Pony Express Rider. Exit to the overworld map and reset. When you reenter, you will still have the letter and the whistle to call Elmer, and can proceed as normal. This will not work if you are riding Elmer when you exit and reset.
This is a really weird one. Counterfeit: After talking to the Black Widow in her underground lair, and before getting over to her partner, exit to the overworld map and reset. When you enter the island again, you will spawn in at the blimp, as though you were just beginning the island, but you will keep all your items, and can immediately go to the inspector's house and find the Scream.
Dude, he said he didn't have a capture card.
Nope. Just Nope. https://www.speedrun.com/ben8461520/allposts
So I'm doing a bunch of glitch hunting and I'm just going to use this thread to report all the reset skips I find. So here's what I've found so far.
Arabian Nights: The special bombs used in each episode can be saved as costumes.
Poptropicon: The wizard outfit and cheetah amulet from Episode 1 can be saved as costumes.
Super Villain: If you are holding the diamond drill when you reset, you will still have it when you restart the island. Jason does this in his run, which is how I found out about it.
Vampire's Curse: Two things. First, the position of the ladder in the main room of the castle does not seem to reset. This happens in OrphixG's run. Second, you can keep the crossbow if you're holding it when you reset.
Zomberry: It is possible to keep the camera by having it equipped when resetting. Additionally, the breaker switches at the apartment complex remain in the same position.
Interestingly, the previous three only seem to happen when the island is reset from the overworld map, as opposed to from on the island using the settings reset button.
RTA stands for Real Time Attack, and refers to completing the game in a single sitting without breaks in the recording.
Offhand, the youngest I know of are Weegee and ThePerilousWeavile.
To seriously answer your question @WeaponLord, Davarae has said site staff is working on the issue (https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/k6o27). Keep in mind that it is around finals time for many schools and colleges, so it may be a while before they have the time to fix it.
I don't see a reason why not, but it would be far better to ask the game community, either in the forum for the game or by directly messaging a member.
https://www.speedrun.com/Amumu00/allposts Necroed an extremely old post with what I'm pretty certain is standard bot advert.
You wanna take a look at the code and figure it out? Maintaining a site is tough, and the staff has lives outside of this. It's finals time for many high schools and colleges. Fuck off.
