How about a Mario Cup speedrun? You have to use Mario (any vehicule is allowed) and you play SNES Mario Circuit 3, N64 Mario Raceway, GCN Mario Circuit and Mario Circuit Wii.
I doubt that Switch VC would be on the leaderboards tbh. It has the same problems as Wii U VC in terms of input delay. In fact, I heard the NSO`s input delay is even worse than the Wii U VC.
So yeah Switch VC doesn`t seem to be viable for speedrunning just for input delay alone (8 frames or 135 ms from what I heard).
Does the NSO version of Mario 64 has input delay like the Wii U VC?

So I revised some rules regarding the Super Mario 64 category extension I proposed a few weeks ago. Those are the revised rules:
- The rules should be the same as a 16 Star run, meaning BLJ, LBLJ and MIPS clip are allowed. SBLJ is banned to prevent skipping the 30 star door without MIPS (no changes here).
- The goal of this category is to beat the game while defeating all 4 main bosses of the game (King Bob-Omb in BoB, King Whomp in WF, Eye Rock in SSL and Wiggler in THI), all UNIQUE mini-bosses (Big Boos and Big Mr. Eye in BBH, the Big Bullies in LLL and the Chill Bully in SL) and win all three character races (Koopa the Quick in BoB and THI and the big Penguin race in CCM). Some other stars may need to be collected to access some of these missions. [NOTE: by unique, I mean no need to defeat Big Boo three times in BBH or defeat the Big Bully two times in LLL. Pick the fastest star associated with defeating Big Boo and Big Bully respectively.]
- Timer starts on reset and ends when you collect the final Big Star.
Let me know what you guys think. I have uploaded a video to demonstrate the new rules of the category as a proof of concept. Keep in mind that I'm not the most skilled player, so there are definitely some timesaves that top players can apply for each star and castle movement. Hope you guys will enjoy these new rules. I thought these new additions would make it more fun, more accessible and have more opportunities of routing. Thanks again in advance for reading the post and trying out the category. :)
In the emulator setup guide (you can find it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k02cyFMU2de1moy1NOUjX9M79I5N7tLEty7pSpenloE/edit#heading=h.dp9blsppbkxt), you have to disable widescreen when submitting runs on the website. So to answer your question, it is not allowed. As for the filtering, I'm not an expert on that, but my take is that it shouldn't really matter. The most important is to disable widescreen and the framebuffer option (when using GlideN64 plugin) to have the least amount of input delay.

There was no category like it and no other categories made use of the character races for Koopa the Quick and the Big Penguin in CCM, so that`s how this category came to be. :)

I'm a bit surprised that this hasn't been considered before, but I thought of a Mario 64 speedrun category that's closest to a boss rush. Here are my suggested rules for this category extension:

I see 30 stars also as a category to practice the first 30 Stars of the 70 Star routing (from BoB up to LLL). That`s just me though. :)
@Shrek_Dogg if it`s Baby Penguin, reset the run. ;)
I dont think an enemy killing himself should count especially if it
s out of your control. However, I think that you should avoid for example triggering Bob-Omb starting the fuse, bc that can be avoided by staying far away from him.

I feel the rules should be the same as the 70 Star category (no BLJs), except that you cannot kill any enemies or any bosses except for Bowser. If you accidentally kill an enemy, you should exit the stage and restart the mission without collecting the star. At the top of my mind, I think this leads to a slightly different routing than the regular 70 Star routing. Here are the following stars that should not be possible: BoB (2): cannot kill King Bob-Omb (which locks out Koopa the Quick and the ability to open cannons), cannot do Bomb Clip to clip through Chain Chomp's gate, Mario Wings to the Sky got so much harder without cannons, so you have to rely on stuff like cloning (which takes too long). Whomps (2): cannot kill King Whomp (which locks out the tower star and the ability to open the cannon), slight different routing for 100 coins bc you can't kill Piranha Plants) JRB: unchanged, except don't kill goombas for 100 coins obviously. CCM: unchanged BBH (4 or 5?): cannot do ''Go on a Ghost Hunt'', ''Merry Go Round'', ''Big Boo Balcony'', ''Eye to Eye in secret room'', unsure if you can do 100 coins on top of my head without killing any enemies. HMC: unchanged, except for 100 coins which is different routing. LLL (2): cannot do ''Boil the Big Bully'' and ''Bully the Bullies''. Slight different routing for 100 coins. SSL (1 or 2?): cannot do Eye rock boss and retrieving star from Klepto if punching the bird counts as hurting the enemy despite not killing him. Slight different 100 coin routing as you cannot kill Bob-Ombs, Fly Guys and Pokeys to get their coins before entering the pyramid.
