Generally speaking you'll still experience the same quality loss regardless of it being played with an enlarged window or in fullscreen mode since the game/monitor is forced to stretch pixels.

Most of the runners play the game in windowed mode (I don't know if it's possible to capture the game at all in fullscreen on OBS)

It would suck if this is the drawback from making you want to start running, but speaking from personal experience you get used to it after a while and some would probably suggest using glide wrapper

As for capturing, it's generally a case of maximizing the window and then adjusting it in Streamlabs to fit

Yeah in my testing with seed you needed to have an exact number of items on your character in total to replicate a specific monster spawn and/or drop from chests/breakable items near a WP.

48 Stash 40 Inventory 4/8/12/16 Belt 12 Equipped Items

Cube counts as one item slot too (meaning 37+12 for Inventory)

I think it comes to 121 maximum potential ways

I think switching over to in-game time is definitely a welcome change, it will put everyone on the same level.

Having a second column for RTA might not be a bad alternative, but I feel like prioritization of in-game time would be a must if that were the case (maybe not to begin with, but after more in-game time runs were submitted)

Also I'm not entirely sure what to do about old runs, I feel like most alternatives have been discussed here. Hopefully there's a way for some automatic solution though. If not maybe consider retiming WR runs? or top 3? (Over a long period of time)

Really glad to see these changes being discussed though.

Also @Teo- I know you mentioned something about a discussion, but perhaps we could organize that on a Discord server where it's easier to gather people and we can discuss options over time rather than in one sitting?

I think many of us would be happy for an in-depth discussion so we can go over the rules and make things clear for the entire community.

I agree with your view on making speedrunning easy to do with very little preparation, but it may get to the point where the runners and/or the community lose interest from something like having to play without sound, that's my main concern.

I know things like this are present in other games (such as using different languages and so on) so it makes sense that something like -ns should be allowed, but as a community we can definitely discuss everything in detail and see what best option for everything is (not just -ns) going forward.

@LaV you could also argue the same for -seed but that isn't allowed in a regular speedrun.

The rules currently state "You must NOT use a pre-generated map." What's the difference between having a rule that says "You must use sound." There's always the option of adding clear exceptions for what is and isn't allowed

As for this entire -ns thing it would be really nice if there was a way around it besides having two shortcuts (and losing a small amount of time for switching)

The load times are definitely a frustrating aspect, especially for the Sorceress and the only way around this that I can see working is by either automatically or manually cutting out the load times from runs, but then it no longer becomes RTA. (and it also becomes a lot of work for the runners and moderators)

Also I've tried reducing the music and sound to 0% vs. using -ns and -ns is significantly faster. It instantly skips to the menu whereas any other method results in a slight pause.

To add: I'm not really a big fan of -ns being used because it's a huge drawback from the game, but since it's a command that isn't technically game-breaking (like -seed) I guess there's no reason for it not to be allowed

I don't do hell runs often, but if I did I would probably be okay with dealing with it since you'll easily be able to learn it for your specific seed, just having the overlapping maps might be slightly annoying of course. The only places that I can think of which get heavily impacted by it for speedrunning are Tower and Durance right?

Also I've been researching gambling and found some consistencies and patterns. You can guarantee the rarity of a specific item but you cannot control the rolls you get, so there's still an aspect of RNG involved there (especially if you're rolling for shared uniques such as amulets and rings). All of this depends on your level and the amount of times you hit gamble (or trade>gamble).

Active seed seems like the way to go when it comes to this type of run, if you force one thing you might as well force the rest. Active seed is the category I would prefer to run in, but I'm excited for either. The whole seeding thing is a pretty cool idea to put everyone on the same/similar level and it is VERY beneficial for race purposes.

Also I wouldn't want to see pX miss out on a category like this.
