So we have 2 runs for the Mushroom Boss Rush now? How about the Full Boss Rush?
Just because a restriction like "No duplicate moons" makes no sense to add in some categories like Any% and All Missions doesn't mean it doesn't make sense as a subcategory in other categories. An example where I agree with the mods' decision on this is the IL for Cascade, where they split 1.0.0 and post-1.0.0 because it makes sense there and only there. And for why it makes sense to add for World Peace: Because a) it makes quite a difference, b ) it is being competitively run, and c) it isn't arbitrary
I know that the option of adding a filter exists, but a blue tab would be better since WP and WP clipless are actually two different subcategories, and are both sufficiently run.
Some explanatory attempts: A GLITCH is usually considered a game mechanic that is in the game but not intended to be in the game, and that can lead to unintended results (e.g. backwards long jumps or roll cancel clipping). It is allowed in most speedrunning categories, however there are some exceptions that ban either some or most glitches. SMO, for example, has an "All Story Moons" category that is actually World Peace without clips. An EXPLOIT is when you get an unintended result from a game mechanic that is intended to be in the game, for example skipping the cave on the moon by executing a specific jump combo. Speedrunning usually doesn't ban exploits, unless maybe if they change the game experience by too much like in Stronghold Crusader. A FEATURE is a game mechanic that is intended to be in the game and will yield an intended result. Usually features are allowed outside of challenge categories like "low captures", but there are some rare exceptions like Dark and Darker Side banning duplicate moons because some runners might have found it a bit dull to replace 10-40 normal moons with just shop items. A CHEAT (CODE) is a game mechanic that is intended to exist, but meant by the developers as a cheat. Those are usually banned in speedrunning (note: Amiibos are not in this category). A HACK or MOD (or sometimes "cheat") is a change to the game from outside and is usually banned as it is usually not competitive. Correct me where I'm wrong and I will edit this.
42:02. A time I'm satisfied with for a random seed run, even though grinding and good micro could probably get the Set Seed variation down to about 30 minutes.
Yes, that's Campaign Any%, the third-to-most category dependend on lag. In any other level than mission 6 or 8 of the campaign, I don't see how it could outweigh the heavy requirements in microing and having a route in your head
You did claim that indeed. Good thing you are now recording your All Purples runs at least
That was my opinion back when nobody came even close to an old clipless World Peace time by Potatti. Now that 2 runners are actually pretty competitive at World Peace Clipless, I think that it actually deserves the blue tab it should have never been anywhere else than.
The 2 top runners don't even call it All Story Moons in their stream titles. That name is just a legacy of KingJ's beg and the mod who accepted it
The goal is to save cappy throws, not to save time. The door takes 3 cappy throws that will all be counted by Toadette
Though I see a point in getting 15% of the 999 moons you would get in 100%. Also I'd round everything up
Somebody please run this. A video of the route: And of the hardest jump: https://t.co/tU66CIRkTF
The "All Story Moons" category has always been just clipless World Peace, I would have always preferred it to be a subcategory of World Peace rather than taking up its own category name and tab, and it is being seriously run. Especially now that there have been rumors that some of the more serious category extensions might be moved over to the main leaderboards into the Miscellaneous tab, I am suggesting to move the World Peace Clipless category where it belongs, and to rename it into what it is.
Might be. A thread like this can easily get lost if nobody pays attention
Chargin chucks: Ruined Dry Bones: Bowser's Bowser statue: Only in the cave I would however recommend to get all of those captures, and the Tropical Wiggler, in the moon cave
Like All purple coins, Moon skip would probably still be used. But yes, like All Purples, you would have to visit a lot of areas
5 runs, maybe eventually just one, and it might get added
Oh right, just the non-postgame outfits (if you're not counting Mushroom and Moon as postgame kingdoms). Then it sounds reasonable, just a variation of purple coins. An alternative would then be All Souvenirs.
Well it would include 560 moons (unique or not), but also 2-3 hours of coin grinding. All Hats would definitely be more balanced with potentially no coin grinding and just the routing
