I have noticed the harder angle i put on it the less forgiving it can be. Supposedly the hardest part of the sblj is hitting the sweet spot and getting stuck. It's a frame perfect trick. Although n64 has a frame rate of like 15 a sec lol so it isn't all that hard to hit once you have the timing down. Basically as soon as you're about to touch the ground hold left and mash A. If you can see Mario move left it was too early.
Appreciate that info, do time comparisons matter they're separated anyway aren't they? Or do times cross platforms?
Hello super metroid runners, I'm interested in grabbing a snes as well as a copy of super metroid to start running. I currently run any% zero mission (the GBA remake of super) though I'm extremely new to the game, community, and really speedrunning as a whole. My question is, is the snes version "better" or is it just a preference thing. I want a snes anyways for a couple of games but I'm noticing a trend with the virtual console. Most are available on there. Personally I feel as though I'd enjoy the snes more for nostalgia reasons as well as aesthetics if I'm being honest. I also believe most snes games run higher frame rates so in turn faster gameplay though probably not too noticeable really. Anyways just curious as to see opinions on the matter, as well as some suggestions on where I could find a copy of super metroid as they're pretty few and far between now a days. Thanks for the read and any input you may have, all the best -

So I finally got the SBLJ (no DDD Skips yet unfortunately) I've done 2 in the past hour lol. It took about 6 hours to learn them, though I sorta went right for it I've never even done a legit run yet. My question to those familiar with the sblj is how do I get more consistent with it, if at all. Is it one of those things you can't really nail down or will I be able to do it as often as say the LBLJ? One last thing, I use the pillar method (to the left) and I don't really get what I'm suppose to be looking for I've heard a shake I've heard when the camera drops lower, both of which are constantly happening lol so could anyone clear that up for me? Thanks to all in advance

Thanks strizer86 useful information, I basically stopped practicing aria after discovering the infamous 0hp glitch, but this changes everything. I'll do a run tomorrow and get back into the swing of things. Although I do wanna look more into the 0hp glitch. I know exactly how to execute except when to pause I basically spam and hope for the best. Thanks again
I'm new here and this is probably somewhere I'm just not looking, but are these separate categories? As in any% allowing the dead soma glitch and then an any% not allowing it? I did like this trick until I started running it. I did reset after reset after reset. It's a cool category but it's not for me. Maybe when I get better i will run it but it is a bit discouraging to go for an any% when I know I'll get crushed by someone using the dead soma zip. I appreciate any information regarding this topic, and would also like to be pointed in the right direction to where I can discuss the trick in detail. Again noob when it comes to TASing but I know a bit on the topic of this trick, however I need a little more info on it. Best regards - Fancy
