So, I ran an analysis on this, and I've since theorized that the limit on what is possible with perfect luck and movement is roughly an ~08:45
Here I list the timesaves:
-
-0.5 on name selection
-
-3 if first map is selected
-
-~2 if town hall was closer and/or on the left (compared to other runs)
-
-1 (at least) with better, straighter movement
-
-3 by playing the Tom Nook section better (house placement)
-
-12 (at best) if perfect fruit is on the path I would take anyway
-
-6 if not having to dig a hole (similar to Obby's WR) and not misdigging
That is surprisingly close to the current NTSC-J WR, and NTSC could agruably surpass it if any new strats came around. I'm sure that the timesaves of using a digital copy, New 3DS and NTR could beat the NTSC-J WR on an NTSC run. Isn't that kinda bizarre? Lol. Of course, there's still a lot of time to be saved on NTSC-J, but it's still fun to imagine/speculate what future leaderboards could look like.
So, I've been wondering after watching a couple of the speedruns here. Is there any difference whatsoever between playing on the original ACNL and playing on ACNL: Welcome Amiibo? By "difference" I mean things that may affect the run, such as rock spawns or map seeds and whatnot. It would be interesting to know if that affects only certain categories, or all categorias altogether.
