I'm not as familiar with the PS2 version compared to Xbox and GCN, but I believe PS2 is a bit faster than GCN, but not as fast as Xbox or PC. I also don't know if there are any loading differences between playing on a fat PS2, slim PS2, PS3 or PS4, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were.

I don't think you could beat the WR on PS2 - the Xbox version is ~6min20s faster than GCN and I imagine the difference between Xbox/PS2 isn't too far from that. That being said, you could easily get a sub-1h or even sub-55, there have been many improvements over the years that no one but me have done runs with. =P If you want to run ILs, almost every version is equally good (there are some miniscule differences), since load times don't matter.

@authorblues I still don't quite get your point. WR Culture, according to you, comes mostly from viewers, who don't know anything about speedrunning.

Maybe it's just me, but once someone starts speedrunning they'll actually realize that there is value to runs that aren't as good as WR. That if a run is WR, then it's probably extremely good, and being merely "very good" or even just "good" is not demotivating - if anything, it's the opposite, since you're getting one step closer to the top.

Once you do start speedrunning, you realize how uninformed and wrong those people are, and you should pay no attention to them. Or, better yet, show them otherwise.

I agree that what you call WR Culture is a bad thing, but thinking it's a problem is an exaggeration. Are people that pathetic that they'll stop doing something they like because some irrelevant idiot on the internet said something stupid? Do people legitimately believe they have failed as a human being for not being the best at going fast in a videogame? And is that the kind of people you want in your community?

The viewers who propagate WR Culture - they don't know any better. The runners who fall for it - they're the true idiots.

In-Game Time has been added to the leaderboards. In-Game Time is the sum of the times obtained in the levels (using the in-game timer) and bosses (using RTA to the decimal). For Any% w/ Cheats, only The Hindenbird is included. You don't have to include In-Game Time when you submit a run - a mod will do that for you. Runs will still be ranked by Real Time, as they have always been.

This inclusion allows for an easy way for everyone from runners to people who've never seen the game to compare the actual quality of runs, since loading times in this game are, to put it shortly, disgusting. You can save around 10 minutes just from switching from GCN to PC, for example.

The reasons In-Game Time was chosen as opposed to Time Without Loads are:

1 - In-Game Time is much easier to calculate (plus, I already keep track of it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11V38_Jn2-YQlNAFtAvGUoJ_Rsg3e-u0mbZzv-JDcYM8 ) 2 - It's not easy to determine what a loading screen is anyway: those blue screens clearly are, but there are also time differences on the dark screens after pressing Start to start a boss fight and before the hint videos start playing on the main levels. Even the time it takes to start the game after creating a new file is both random and different between versions.

It's true, unfortunately. I might one day propose to the other mods and runners a change to exclude loading times (I'd need to do some more research first). It's true that version differences are a part of speedrunning, but saving over 5 minutes due to loading times does not reflect on a player's true skill (this has already happened before, Luigi and RareGamer had beaten my 1:05 time purely due to loading screens).
