I've read the document and fully agree with it. Firstly, we need to futureproof the leaderboards. A bit of work now will mean less maintenance down the path. Secondly, if we want to entice new players and make speedrunning the game more open, we need to use IGT for the categories that can use it.

PSA. Restart your game between goes because the autosplitter variables don't reset themselves... yet

Did a bit of research on this and for Any% there is one key you definitely want to skip. Not important for the others though.

Ludo's Key: As stated you don't gain the ability to quick fly if you skip this.

Skelord's Key: This is the gold right here. As soon as you kill Skelord, quickfly back to the hub. Saves you 5+ seconds.

Fatty's Key: You can skip this for the memes, but doesn't save any time.

Cracker's Key: Can't skip this as it acts as the quickest way to get to Tower.

Tower Key: So, I discovered that you can quickfly immediately after finishing tower and you get the key anyway.

Space Key: Unskippable.

Skelord and Tower key new strats have helped me shave about 10-15 seconds off the record, but the fun happens if you were to backpatch to 2.0 and do an Any% Reset Abuse run. This is theoretical for the moment but this is a Any% Reset Abuse 2.0 run:

• Skip Ludo's key (or don't, I'm not sure which next step would be quicker overall)
• Get double jump
• Reset Abuse back through Spookelium to the hub OR quickfly, depending if you got Ludo's key or not
• Reset Abuse all the way to the base of Tower
• Reset Abuse through the Tower gate and complete Tower
• Go to and complete Space
• Go to Mirror World and Reset Abuse your way to float
• Kill Float
• ?????
• Profit

No Ice World or Castle needed.

I think basing it on version numbers akin to some of the Minecraft categories is a good idea, Reicha.

I'm sad about the movement changes as it makes some of the gimmes less so. I forsee the Any% and 100% record times being a little higher than pre-patch.

DLC category sounds good.

Extra points:

• Would it be possible to rename "Suprise Party" to "Surprise Party" as well? That's always bugged me.
• For reset abuse 100% make sure it's included in the rules that you have to collect all the keys as well as the stars, because you can obviously skip Ludo's key on that version of the game.

I am a bit concerned that my YouTube videos currently have abuse in the name...

Of course that opens up the debate about what is and isn't a major glitch. But that's a conversation for another thread ha

Instead of there being a no reset abuse split on the leaderboard, why not put the runs without as NMG (No Major Glitches). To me it makes more sense like that as if we find anything else that completely breaks the game, it can still fit in the category where glitches are allowed. Just future proofs us for any extra finds.

So Reicha7 discovered if you run to the edge of the screen and just before transitioning to the next screen, you hit the reset button, you wrap to the other side of the screen...

Great trick. With this and resetting the room, we should be able to shave off a decent amount of time now.

Be wary though that I think projectiles are what causes the slow down, so maybe best to make sure you close and open the game before starting a new run. The game will run slower and you snag on walls a lot more frequently. Really frustrating.

I see that Reicha7 has beaten my any% record, which is grand. I reckon I'll need to get back playing to reclaim it :)

Since I last ran the game though we now have an in-game timer. Are we using that as the leaderboard ranking now and if not, shouldn't we? It would make sense if we did. Most other games do. Wouldn't have to be precise about timing the cut off at the end.

Sorry, I may be missing something here, but doesn't the game immediately start fading to black as soon as you select the present at the end? So you can tell if someone has hit the split too early? Also what frame rule? I'm a bit lost I think.

Also, I agree with the milliseconds thing, just set them to 0 for other categories. Shame you can't set per category. Seems like poor design on the site's part.

Yeah, I reckon the DLC should have a misc category too. It's too short for a full category.

Myself and Spookytube have been chatting about the Surprise Party category. Currently, you have to select the cake to end it. However, this means the cake disappears and the only way to restart is exit the game, play world 1 again and then play the party level.

Could we change it so it goes from selecting the gift to start and selecting the gift at the end of the party level to finish? That way we could try over and over.
