Just a suggestion but maybe consider allowing the time limit for “arcade mode” to be set to 5 to make speed running this mode a bit more accessible. It might help boost the engagement from the community.
I wonder how accurate these times are. I got a 6 minute run on goal A and sub 4 on goal B, seems random. Maybe we need to use a stop watch lol
There are no codes in this version. Lotus Turbo Challenge on the Genesis (which is actually Lotus II) has codes.
When submitting Chase H.Q. II speedruns via emulation on a PC, Kega fusion and FPS should be displayed. It's bad enough, recording on a computer opens up the floodgates for video manipulation, I feel FPS display can at least mitigate some of this. Thoughts?
Definitely a huge misunderstanding. I also apologize for insinuating you were using a cheat code via emulation. As you can imagine, from our point of view, and not looking at a manual for this old game, we did not know of this boost mechanism so in that regards, we were absolutely puzzled as to how you were obtaining a mid 8 run.
In the end, this definitely will humble us and also allow us to try and beat your best time. It all kinda worked out in a way as we are all excited to chase your speedrun!
Cheers
This forum wasn't directed at you buddy. In general, running this game on PC has some advantages, that's why I was suggesting a separate leaderboard for PC/Mac emulation and console just so that the lines aren't crossed. All good man. 🙏
Emulation on PC should have its own category IMO. Keyboard use, MAME options, and rom hacks are giving an unfair advantage, depending on the game.
Just explain here lol. I've watched your speedrun 3 times, you aren't doing anything we aren't doing.
Just throwing it out there but it has been brought to my attention that running Chase H..Q. 2 via emulation using a PC/MAC presents legitimate unfair advantages. Such would include but not limited to the use of a keyboard for the "IN THE GARDEN IN" cheat code as well as the use of the "rocket cheat." I believe in an effort to ensure a fair and even playing field, the use of a PC when running this game should have its own speedrun category. Emulation on a mini console could be lumped in with original hardware as the mini console does not provide keyboard capability but when using a Mac or a PC, this is opening up the floodgates for speedrun times that are frankly, unattainable on original hardware. Thoughts?
Just explain to us how the rocket cheat works on PC. "IN A GARDEN IN" (wink wink)
Check out how quickly he disposes level 3 boss. That's damn near impossible. He is able to beat level 1 with 67 seconds remaining, the best I have ever obtained was 63 seconds remaining. Sub 10 minutes is impossible, not unless you are running a cheat or a ROM hack. Sub 8 is so unrealistic you can't help but laugh.
Question for you and be honest please. With a 3 button Genesis controller (not a ROM on a Mac book with digital non-latency input) , are you confident you could still land a sub 8 run? Yes or no.
Sounds good Lisista, I would be down with that. Russian women are incredible, I second that.
