My list of unofficial Celeste Classic ports. Not all of them have categories yet since I haven't tested all of them, I just tried listing the main ones.

While ports try to take the original game from one platform to another, remakes try to rebuild the game from the ground up. I might include them here to avoid creating too many pages. So far we already have a page for the Scratch remake.

Let me know if you've found unofficial ports not listed here, or if you're interested in running any of them.

It says in the rules you have to get 100% so "Any%" makes no sense.

There's a few games I didn't make categories for (either because they are trivial or pure RNG) that could be included in a multi-game run:

 • Airplane High Low
 • Head of the Solar System
 • It's Not the Same
 • Jumbled Jets
 • What Comes Next?

There might be some others I'm missing since a lot of the other 'games' are apparently purely educational.

I'm thinking we'd just allow multiple tabs since navigating the Clubhouse is broken in some places and it just adds a bunch of loading time which could be unfair for lower-end devices.

A new category called 'All Difficulties' has been added in the Misc. category tab. In this category you have to beat both difficulties in any order (probably starting with Hard and then Easy). Unlike regular games, all times are measured with real-time, though you can use the in-game times for reference. See the category rules for more details and feel free to ask if you have more questions.

The category is currently experimental, so it might get archived if there's not much interest in it, though there's already a few runs posted. In a few weeks I'll determine if it has enough traction in the community and then decide if we'll keep it. Good luck to those running this category.

I think it would make the most sense given how all the runs here are just slow speed. Src has a "Gamemode" tag that would be appropriate here as it says, "This type indicates that a mode in the game is played and focused on as opposed to the entire game."

Then we could add a new page that's actually a Category Extensions with various interesting categories, probably from various mods like Chess Mod, Mouse Mod, Visibility Mod, etc. (Not saying every possible category should be added, probably just a sampling.)

Utah, USABen_eXceL11 months ago

It's basically the same as the Snake Mods favicon, just a tiny bit smaller. Since I usually have both tabs open and they both start with "Google Snake" it's easy to confuse them, especially with a lot of tabs open.

It's not a huge deal, but maybe something like the default Apple or the Classic Mode trophy could work here. Alternatively, since the community controls the mods page maybe that one could be changed instead.

It would be nice if YouTube Shorts automatically embedded, like normal YouTube links currently do. Right click on almost any video and select "Copy embed code" to see how it can be done. For speedrun moderation this gives the added benefit of moving frame-by-frame in a video, making retiming a lot easier for games without an in-game timer.

When entering the game starting by selecting difficulty it uses the previous game even if no moves have been taken. See this video I made for an example. I think hard resets should be required to stop players potentially knowing the solution beforehand. Perhaps there are other games that do something similar but I haven't looked too closely yet.

I modded the game to add a speedrun timer: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/953265900/

I think we could use that to set up IL leaderboards for each of the 40 levels.

There's categories for the different difficulties, but the only difference I see is the amount of health points and the presence of checkpoints. It doesn't seem like a fast run on Easy would be much different from a fast run on Hard, so it seems like more of a variable than a category. In addition, there's an "Expert" category that doesn't appear to exist, unless I'm missing something.

The Any% rules state: "Opening Vendor boxes with the mouse (cursor) is NOT allowed". Playing on keyboard, however, I don't see another way to open these boxes, unless I missed something.

I've noticed that the Glitchless category hasn't really taken off as a competitive category. Obviously there is a barrier to entry to getting the doubleclick script or new mouse setup working, but there's also a weird overlap between Restricted and Glitchless (all Restricted runs are technically also Glitchless runs).

One way I've been thinking we could address this is adding the current Glitchless ruleset as an input method (something like "Doubleclick Mouse"), and then have input method be sub-category. Then the main categories would be no glitches and glitched, and we'd have sub-categories for difficulty and input method.

I don't think this would change the current meta and everybody would be pretty much on the same page (which was pretty much our goal when creating the Restricted category).

I've started the process of moving from an IL default leaderboard to a Full-game leaderboard since I think that works best for dealing with variables. Since speedrun.com doesn't have the option of moving IL runs to Full-game, I'll have to copy each run individually and leave a note of when it was originally submitted. To be clear, this does not mean the rules or leaderboards themselves are changing, just how they're presented.

However, I am getting rid of the "all experiments" category for lack of interest in such a challenging category. I could still re-add it if anyone is interested in actually doing it. These were the original rules:
Starting from a new game file, complete the experiments and tasks in any order.

 • In the "Postcards" Demo Room, pull the VR Alarm to activate the balloon drop.
 • Complete the "Slingshot" game and get the "Congratulations!" message.
 • Defeat Wave 8 of "Longbow".
 • Defeat Xortex Core in "Xortex 26XX".
 • Visit the "Secret Shop" experiment.
 • Go through the whole "Robot Repair" experiment.
 • In "Solar System", throw all the planets into the sun to get the Milky Way Easter Egg.
 • Visit the "Human Body Scan" experiment.

The player must end the run by activating the credits on the Xortex 26XX machine.

Timer starts when the player presses "Start". Timer stops when the "Valve" logo appears on the arcade machine.

The "Open Experiments" whiteboard should be shown to confirm that all experiments have been completed.
As always, any suggestions for new categories/variables are welcome.

I've been playing the Android versions (there's a free and a paid version) and have noticed they have extra levels that aren't in the web version. For example, there's 18 levels in each world instead of just 12. The free version has 6 worlds, and the paid version has the first 3 worlds and 3 "hardcore" worlds (World 3 in the web version is actually the first "hardcore" world in mobile). In addition, there are six bonus worlds which can be unlocked with mushrooms (World 4 in the web version is actually Bonus World 6).

Do we want to support these extra levels in the leaderboards? The full-game category "All Levels Skipless" would still be the same if we mention that it is for all levels in the Flash version.

Since the "Web" platform isn't very specific, I've created a variable called "Input method" to help differentiate mouse/touchscreen runs.

Utah, USABen_eXceL4 years ago

The only platform currently listed is PC, while other platforms were removed, apparently by accident.

I looked into it more and apparently the game has been ported everywhere. There's a list on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angry_Birds_(video_game)

The platforms that could be added here include: iOS, Android, 3DS, PSP, X360, PC, WindowsPhone, Web, Mac, Roku, Wii, WiiU, etc. (though obviously iOS and Android are the most important.)

Utah, USABen_eXceL4 years ago

I'm seeing a lot of overlap with the "No Undos" and Any% categories. I tried messing with the Undo button and couldn't find much use for it as a semi-casual solitaire speedrunner, since it's not like some hint or skip button which can always save time. Is the Undo button a viable strategy for more competitive runs? If not then I think it'd probably be best to merge them.

Utah, USABen_eXceL4 years ago

Currently the record for "Any% - Easy, Mobile" is 4 seconds. While this is impressive, it's different from the other runs in that category in that it's apparently a mouse attached to an Android device, instead of a touchscreen. This puts it on the same ground as the runs in the "Web" sub-category. To keep all the runs consistent, I think the sub-categories should be input-based, i.e. Web/Mobile should be changed to something like Mouse/Touchscreen.

It might be a good idea to ban skipping levels. Else the speedruns for this game would look like this.
