Yeah, that's the one I meant. That's too bad.

Watching the video, and I like the floppy skips in a few of the levels. There was one where it seemed like you could skip the floppy, but it'd only work if the damage counts if the security radar is far off-screen. I also see that you take care to "damage boost" in certain spots.

The sequence break at the end is fun, too. One of the few speed-running type things I managed to do as a kid.

The route's fairly simple, and it's definitely possible for time to be improved a few seconds, no problem.

Are you going to work on the second and third missions? I personally only got to them recently, as the version I played as a kid was the shareware version.

Have you made any observations on the platform cycles?

So here it is! This is a game I've thought about running myself, but I've been too intimidated to route it myself.

I'm assuming the video has a route, but I can't watch it just yet. Glad to see another of my childhood games finally up here, though.

The only ones that intimidate me off-hand are the fancy-flying follow one and the final boss fight.

Are there any notes or bits of advice for the run?

I've been thinking of doing a run of this game myself. Would I post my best run or the WR run(s) from Speed Demos Archive? I suppose this is asking for future reference, since I haven't gotten to my peak in the game yet.

Edit: Another question: would I be allowed to use a different controller? The Atari 2600 joystick isn't the most comfortable, and SMS and Genesis controllers work on it.

Are there any maps for this yet? Glitches even?

In terms of fluidity of motion and skill, I really appreciate any of the Super Mario 64 categories. To use a trite phrase, whenever runners go through the Bowser stages, it is "poetry in motion." That said, most of the runs I dig DO use AI abuse, clips, glitches, etc...

@kobepilgrim

Yeah. Sorry. I guess I was thinking too much about how Undertale was described once and conflated the two.

Yes. Dear OP, please listen to this gentleman instead.

I'd look at the Princess Remedy games, I've been meaning to myself. They're short, fun bullet-hell type games. (The first one's free!)

Ah, Sonic Shuffle.

The short story is that I like pain and I want to do a less serious game first.

The long story is that I saw that all the Mario Party games have pages on here, and that Sonic Shuffle is a shittier version of that. It has a story mode, much like some of the Mario Party titles, so that would be the category I'd run. Dreamcast is one of my favorite systems, so this would be a nice/awful way for me to play more of it! Does anybody here play it and/or know tricks and manipulations to do?

The specific question is this: are emulators allowed for the Super Mario 64 DS 1 star run? I've seen the WR video, and it looks like there's room for more improvement and optimizations. As it is, I have no means to capture footage from an actual DS.

Anyway, thanks for the help!
