So, in the trailer IGN put out for Undertale, they showed that the game was coming to PS4 and that it was getting a japanese "localization". Keeping in mind all the unskippable text in the game (monstertale, most battles, and more), the japanese version will probably be faster in that regard. How much do you guys think it will change this speedrun? There might even be new glitches and shit in these versions. (sry for long thread)
Maybe there will be less text boxes? I heard that one (minor) reason speedrunners run Paper Mario in Japanese is because of less dialogue. Though if only the PS4 version gets the Japanese version we'd be limited to mashing with controller.
man looking back on this thread I didn't know jp version would be complete ass on inputs so now im not so sure people would run jp version and uhhh
Yeah this update has honestly made me lose a lot of the remaining interest I had in running this game. With AGDQ submissions coming up, people will be 'expecting' to see the JP version submitted, and fuck that.
It's a shame too since JP does objectively save a BOATLOAD of time in Geno, at least a minute and a half. I just cannot be arsed to play on it. Maybe if a Linux patch that behaves exactly as the current English Linux version is rolled out.
