Basic Controls

Hello, this game is really easy to play if you didn't play it before, it has no tutorial or whatsoever inside the game, so I'm doing this little guide for new players.
There is a Manual file in the Steam version files and I guess it also has it in the GOG.com version, however the Copyrights are all right reserved with exception of brief reviews, so sadly I can't legally upload it here.

Emulator:
If you are playing the emulator version, these are some controls:
· **Alt+S** - Save the game
· **Alt+R** - Restore the game
· **Alt+Q** - Quit the emulator

Function Keys:
· **F1** - List of opponents, the leftmost one is the most powerful and preferred future leader, and the rightmost the least one.
· **F2** - A map of Japan, only real use is when you control your clan and you are in the battle for the Shogunate.
· **F3** - Location of your opponents and current missions.

Menu Keys:
The arrow keys control where you are selecting, and the Return key is used to accept, Escape works in some menus to go back.

One Man Battle:
· **Arrow Keys** - Move in the arrow direction.
· **Return** - Attack, using bow and arrow at distance and using your sword when close to an enemy.

Battle:
· **Arrow Keys** - Move your fan.
· **Number Buttons** - Order your troop number N to:
·· **Arrow Keys** - Direction to move.
·· **Keypad +** - Move in direction rotating if necessary.
·· **Keypad -** - Move in direction without rotating.
·· **Keypad * **- Rotate without moving.

Combat:
· **Arrow Keys** - Move in key direction.
· **Enter** - Prepare to attack:
·· **Left Arrow** - Swing sword right to left.
·· **Up Arrow** - Attack in front.
·· **Down Arrow** - Block.
·· **Right Arrow** - Swing sword left to right.

Speedrun Tactic: "Rise and rat"

A good speedrun tactic is to get to the first position, getting the most assets, and then kill your leader, this only works for the first two leaders, at the Shogunate battle you will need an army bigger than all the other opponents armies combined.

To get the most assets you will need to:

(There is a max. for each thing, so don't worry about leveling up something at max. level, you can check your levels in the F1 tab after selecting and clicking Return on your profile)

+ **Honor**: Killing ronnins, samurais that dare you, donating to the local monks, marrying and helping your leader with the clan honor.
+ **Fief**: Increasing the taxes is an easy way to level this up, also helping your leader with your army and conquering clans at the Shogunate battle.
+ **Warriors**: The amount of loyal warriors you have, you can get more at your state if you have enough fief.
+ **Generalship**: The trained your warriors are, "Drill your troops" options in your estate.
+ **Swordmanship**: The trained you are with the sword, this doesn't add a real useful thing, but it's useful to get more points to be the favorite.
