After the writer gets killed, go talk to the receptionist and he should be sleeping. after talking to him there are doors next to him which are locked, there is a black outline around them, touch it (its a bit hard) and the door will open. i used this trick in my smiling x zero run. you will also be able to just grab the key, you dont need to be standing on the green circles! hope this helps ;)
