Hi there, i'm new to the community and I'am trying to get into speedrunning the game, I have a macbook air m1 from 2022 and I'am currently playing Super Mario Bros and other NES titles on the 'Open Emu' emulator. I just wanted to check if this qualifies as a legible platform to submit a speedrun on.
Thank you.
Well, i don't own an Apple device, but i understand that in the OpenEmu menu, there should be somewhere to download an ''emulator'' (core) into the emulator (like in retroarch).
If You didnt get My idea, u can just download Nestopia or Treecreepios mesen.
Sorry if I didnt explain myself well enough :(, Im not a native English speaker.
OpenEmu → Settings/Preferences → Cores → Nestopia → Install
just note that every NES emu on Mac runs at 60FPS flat instead of the actual 60.09881389 the NES normally runs at, which make a difference of about 0.5 second in an Any% run and about 2 seconds in a Warpless run
Thank you everyone so much for the advice I really appreciate, looking forward to getting sometimes up on the board
@Sots28 I've downloaded OpenEmu and Super Mario Bros for the famicon on EmulatorGames.net, so I think I have all that's needed for a run, except the nestopia core. the problem is, I can't find settings/preferences!
In the menu bar at the top of the screen click OpenEmu, then Settings (it might say Preferences instead if it's an older OS version). You can also bring up settings in pretty much any application on a Mac by pressing Command-comma
@Sots28 my openemu has a nestopia core, but it was already pre-installed. I was trying to play Super Mario bros, when I clicked the settings icon, went to cores, and nestopia was there with the installed tick. the reason I said 'trying to play Super Mario bros' was because I can't do anything! None of the buttons do anything, and I've gone to the game controls over and over again, and nothing seems to work! the page has all the controls filled in, I've pressed the right buttons, and its still unresponsive! do you know what's happening?
Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
