I need help timing my 8-4 ils. Is there like a website or spreadsheet where I can enter like 8-9 and it will say what time I got?

THANK YOU SO MUCH

No problem! feel free to ask as many questions as you need. Here to help :)

I have one more question. When I see some world records on 8-4 I’ll see something like ACK9+2. What does the +2 or +1 mean?

when you get into the last room of 8-4, on pellsson practice from you will see the "x" on the top of the screen. Under it will be the room value. In the current world record under the "x" was the letter "A". But because the world record does a fast accel in the last room, it saves time. The value under the "x" won't change but the final time will. So as an example we could say, A-C-K-9+2. This means 2 frames were saved in the last room so the final time would be equivalent to an 8-B, 8-4 score. Hope this helps, let me know if you are still confused.

That makes sense, but how do you know if you saved 1 or 2 frames

perfect fast accel saves 1 frame. It cannot save more than 1 if you do the perfect fast accel inputs, or perfect fast accel inputs with a 2 frame jump. Both will save 1 frame. If you see the world record, it does something called FFA (Falling Fast Accel). Falling fast accel will save 2 frames when performed correctly. To know if you got perfect fast accel you can use the "R" in the top right corner after you have touched the axe on the pellsson practice rom to see if you saved time. But we usually just first see if the fast accel we did was good, then we look at the sockfolder values in the top left to see the number and letter flashing under the "L" in RULE

Could you explain what to look for in the R and sock values to know what I saved? And also would I say -1 if a lost a frame on axe?

Is there something I can look at in under the R to see how many frames I lost/saved?

Any trusted emulators are there for windows or for iPad? In which I can play Super Mario Bros.?

I don’t want to download one, but I want to play online

To quote the rules

"FCEUX, Nestopia, Bizhawk, OpenEMU Frontends used in conjunction with these emulators that can alter the performance (ex. RetroArch) are not permitted"

In other words, online emulators are not allowed for run submissions. The only ones allowed are the ones stated above (FCEUX, NEStopia, Bizhawk, and OpenEMU) I personally recommend the emulator by the name of NEStopia. Both NEStopia UE 1.50 and NEStopia 1.40 are great emulators for smb1.

Ok thanks Sawyer0622 One more question, is NEStopia or any of the emulators listed here available for windows?

I still want to know how I can tell how many frames I lost/saved in last room of 8-4

https://i.ibb.co/BTFhP1Z/axegrab.png This will show you if you lose any time on the axe itself. The picture furthest to the left would represent a perfect axe grab (no frames lost), and on the furthest right side, you will see 8 frames lost. To be honest, if you really want to know if your fast accel saved any time in the last room, first, remember it needs to be perfect fast accel inputs. (Left Nothing Right+Jump) and the jump needs to be for 1-2 frames. If it seems like you did these inputs, just take a look at the top left values and you should have 1-9 flashing under the "L" in "RULE", or F-7 Flashing under the "L" in "RULE". Note that F-7 will save you that 1 frame in last room, but if you did an F-7 fast accel (Left Nothing Right+Jump (2 frame jump) in the first or third room, it doesn't really save as much time as if you did a real perfect fast accel. Finally, if you are not sure what a perfect fast accel looks like, this video demonstrates perfect fast accells at the start at each room except water.

So is 1-9 2 frames saved

SNES9x Ban

Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
