I know that the rules state that Left/Right is against the rules. But on the Switch (Official Hardware) you can use the procontroller and in Theory do left right at the same time. I don't know a lot about Left/Right and it's application but I was just curious about they're being a "legal" way to do left right.
Not even sure if Left/Right works on the switch, it's just an idea.
If anyone can give insight more about Left/Right and Up/Down that'd be great!
Left + Right is by definition disallowed, so if it's ever done in a run, presumably the run would be disqualified
The reason is that you can't naturally do L+R on the original controller (short of breaking it), so it's also not allowed on all imitation consoles (e.g. emulators and virtual consoles) even if you COULD do it there. In the same way that "turbo" isn't allowed, but there are some controllers that have a turbo function.
The NES software allows Left+Right, but since the controller is one solid "plus sign", you can't connect the contacts for the "left" and "right" simultaneously.
Everything to make the imitation consoles as equal and non-advantageous to the NES as possible.
Yeah, basically the Switch won't let you do L+R. At least not natively.
@roopert83 wait.. isn't the d pad on the left joycon made of individual buttons? or do you mean the software doesn't let you do L+R?
Aren't the buttons on the joycon supposed to make you run and jump? Like on the SNES controller? And the joystick to make you go left, right, up and down?
Sorry I'm not really knowledgable on switch stuff. :p
basicaly, you are only alowed to preform button combinations that could be recreated on a original nes controller plus left and right barely save any time
Can I clarify which is correct? When pressing the left while the right key is pressed, does the movement to the right stop or continue?
It's probably a translation problem. I previously asked titled speedrunners, none of them know exactly how this function should work. The fact is that different emulators and their versions implement the "left plus right" prohibition function in different ways.
In one case, both keys stop responding, and in the other, only one continues to work. There is no information which emulator would be more accurate, for example, Nestopia or Mesen.
I'm not answering an old question, but asking for help, this is relevant now.
Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
