It's been months since Miniland gave me the 1 frame wall jump advice and I still haven't been able to go from 4:57.9 to 4:57.6 Maybe my wall jump room success rate is too low. . . The one frame jump at the beginning of the wall jump room is really difficult for me. I have spent a lot of time practicing it, but the success rate is very unstable. As a result, I often fear failure and lose confidence during speedruns . I have done 4:57.6 pace to 8-4 8 times, but 6 of them died in the opening 1 frame jump, and I have lost confidence. . . I spent quite a long time and still can't improve the success rate, I hope everyone can give me a little help, thank you<3
Hey I’m not by any means an expert but Kosmics tutorial on YouTube covers a method that allowed for 2 frames of leniency instead of 1 and it barely loses any time.
Reply to NTWesome: Really? Maybe that will help me break 4:57.8, thank you, can you give me the video link?
held D+R in the buzzy beetle section and you would hit the pixel more consistanly while doing 1 frame
i do forwards walljump so it eliminates the "randomness" of the subpixels/subspeed that will allow you to perform the walljump. that makes it only two frame perfect inputs: the first jump when you just enter the room, and the walljump. if you notice that you fail that first jump, it would help if you troubleshoot your error. maybe you're jumping too early or too late. you don't want to be doing the same thing that fails anyways so it's important to have an idea what you need to adjust. i remember when i would think of an imaginary line on the floor as a visual cue when to press jump to account for the input delay when i was using an emulator. but when i switched to console a couple of years ago, it was a long adjustment period for me. even now, i still have troubles here and there
even for high level runners, the walljump room is always the most challenging one when doing 8-4. so that's all i can say, just keep on practicing, and make the necessary adjustments, and more practice. and finally, you can do this. mindset is also important. you practice to make it when it matters most. also Littlezombie idt you can get mid 4:57 with 2-frame unless you do an fpg or some other trick (besides already doing bbg)
@JoeTheBrooo Not a good idea, by mid-4:57 level you should be able to perform 1-frame and doing several frame perfect inputs to avoid two is quite silly once you think about it.
@Littlezombie A visual cue which may help for the first frame-perfect is looking at how Mario is aligned horizontally on the ground and where his foot is lined up with the brick pattern. It'll be different cause you're on emulator but I am sure you will be able to find a cue which works for sure.
D+R on Frame 231, boot up a savestate and test it out, if you dont have access to save states, and dont want to practice on emulator, download fceux, and make a tas to see exaxctly what you need to do, also you probably already know this, but if not, you need pellsson rom to tell what frames you're on
Effective immediately, any submissions using the SNES9x emulator will not be verified. The SMB1 mod team has concerns about its integrity due to its ability to overclock and remove lag frames, which may not be easily detectable. Additionally, we request that all BizHawk submissions avoid using the S
