As the WR holder of High Score (5/7/2021), here is a helpful strategy to getting WR.

Step 1: Preparation Build up a bit of mass, maybe 600, before you begin your journey to the WR.

Step 2: Journey With that 600 mass that you picked up, travel to the middle, which is normally where everybody is. The more snakes, the more mass.

Step 3: Buildup When at the middle, play it as safe as you can. Don't be ambitious. When a larger snake dies, don't try and take all of the snake's mass. Take a little bit and let the others take the rest. Do this until you have about 10,000 mass.

Step 4: Late Game Travel away from middle when you can. Now, look for the long gray things on the minimap. These are other snakes. Go there and hunt them down until they die, leaving you with all the mass.

Step 4 1/2: Safe Game This is another way to do Step 4. Look for medium-sizes gray circles on the minimap. When you find a decent sized one, go there. You should be met with a group of snakes. Simply surround a few of them and circle them until they die, leaving you with their mass. Do this as long as you can. Don't be too ambitious, as this is where my run died.
