Amiga Route Trimming

Hi All :D

It has been a while. I hope everyone are doing well out there.

Currently working on routing the Amiga version. I'm at 3:35 for level 1 but want to shave off another second.

3:33 it is :

Nice. Your timing is a bit different from the other Amiga runs, it starts on the menu screen. But that should only be like a second more. 3:33 is a good time, if you can make it through the whole game.

Thank you Reboot. Made it through the whole game a number of times. Only a few places where the tactics are a little different than the C64. Re: yes, I am more a fan of the 'modern' approach with starting the timer when game play actually begins, and stopping the timer when loading occurs. This is a also must when we have players using tape based games. All my timing scripts are publicly available through the official livesplit github btw if anyone would like to use them.

Well, the Amiga version does not have this problem. As far as I know, the game doesn't load anything after it has been started. All levels are in memory. I would prefer if we would keep the current timing method that is used by all runs on the leaderboard for the Amiga version.

Amiga is one platform and this is a retro game. When I started running this game late last year there where no rules defined in the category and no one had shared their time splitting scripts. The first thing I did when I became a moderator was to define the actural rules (please check them out, they haven't changed since then), so people could reproduce them in their time keeping and submitting my own timesplitting script to the livesplit github (when/if I do make an acutal submittion to the Amiga leaderboard this script will go there too). We aren't talking a game with hundreds of entries on the leaderboard, currently there are 2 on each platform, and neither are within reach of eachother. Should there come a day where any entry is close I will be the first to judge each run on equal terms.

Starting the time on the first input is an ancient method used by Speed Demos Archive, they did only time videos of good runs. Most RTA runs today use timing on the start screen/file selection. Your scripts cannot be used if you want to run games on actual hardware. Manual timing on the start screen is much easier, if you have to do it manually. Yes, there were no rules, there was no reason to define them, because everyone was using the same rules anyway.
