This has been consistent with me and I found this faster than turning around. This was done on the PS4 just in case if anyone was wondering.
that's interesting how far did u have to back up to do that because everytime i tried that it wouldnt work
As soon as i went in and passed that cabinet/close thing on the left i pressed back till i heard it ring which in this video you see didn't take long. To me it was faster than turn the camera around in console.
On PC a lot of the triggers I can do near instantly since I can rotate my mouse faster than stopping and backing up, for console yeah, I'd say this is quick and smooth
