Why's the game ran on Hard instead of Easy? Wouldn't Easy be, you know, faster?

I chose Hard for more challenge since Easy is faster by only 10 minutes. I plan to do a run on Easy soon though. I actually already attempted it couple weeks ago, but my notes were not that good and AI was really uncooperative, so I gave up. I think I was 3 minutes ahead at the beginning of stage 4.
