Performing the glitch To start, you need to know how to do the save file glitch. This glitch is frame-perfect, but can be done pretty consistently. There is a setup for it. In order to do the glitch, however, you need to have a save file that is in the core of the SFHQ. Normally, you would have to beat almost the entire game to get to that point. But there is a shortcut. Exit out to the main menu. Once you are in the main menu, press the tab key, then "d" "e" "b" "u" "g" This will activate a cheat code in the game. You know you have entered it correctly because the game will play a sound effect and the game's version will appear in the top right corner of the screen. (for example, v1.1.1.0) Move the selection over to the settings file, but do not select it. Instead, hold down the "r" button. This will give you a debug menu. One of these options is to "Battle the final boss" Using this cheat code to skip to the final boss is banned, but you can use it to get to the core quickly so that you can perform the save file glitch. Press "r" + "t" + [space] This will bring you to the core. Then exit to the main menu. Now it is time to perform the glitch! Press and hold "r" + "space" on save file 3, but don't release them once it says "deleted save file 3" Instead, keep them pressed and switch to another window. On web version, open a new tab. On windows, press the "windows" key to exit out of the game entirely. Then release "r" + "space" When you switch back to the game, the game will be "paused" on the main menu. The game still hasn't actually deleted your save file yet, even though it says it has. Time for the hardest part. To do the glitch, you need to do two inputs. Press "r" for 1 frame. On the very next frame, release "r" and press [space] This will finish resetting the file, and exactly one frame later, select the file and load it. This will take practice to pull off, but it can be done. Once you have the timing, it becomes much easier and even consistent.
I use both hands to do this glitch btw, I put one hand on "r" and use the other to press space, so I don't have to move my hand really fast. Now it's time to actually learn how to beat the final boss really fast. Beat the game in under 15 seconds Perform the glitch, and then do a normal jump to the platform and enter the final bossfight. Play the level in radius mode. Run to the right off of the platform and try to land next to the third block on the top row. Press [esc] key to skip through the dialogue, and then hold left and slide down the wall to hit the boss. As soon as you hit the second checkpoint, press "r" to restart from checkpoint. This will allow you to skip the second phase of the fight. When you respawn, hold left and crouch to go over the grind rail before the third phase. Once you are under the grind rail, move right so that you don't hit the hazards lining the walls. Move down the left side of the platforms, and do a spin jump to hit the boss for the final time. Once you have killed the boss, use [esc] to pause the game. This will pause the in-game timer, but the boss's dying animation will still play. This saves a few seconds. Once the boss has fallen into the ground and stopped moving, unpause the game, then quickly pause the game again, but hold [esc] to exit out of the level. For the final cutscene, hold [esc] again to skip all the dialogue and beat the game. Example run with this strategy: 13.37 any% Former World Record Beat the game in under 13 seconds I decided to leave out this part of the guide because it was only used for a brief period of time in runs, and isn't that much easier than the route used for world record. Additionally, it is possible to get a sub-13 using the route in the previous section. I chose to use the 13.37 run because it is slower and easier to tell what is happening than the 12.90. If you want to see the sub-13 route, here is a video: Beat the game in under 12 seconds In order to get a time under 12 seconds, you need to play on the web version. This may seem weird, but there are a few small differences between web and pc. One of them is crucial for getting an 11. Start the run like normal, but walk off the left side of the starting platform in ultima. Try to position yourself so that you are just outside of the radius of the second block on the left. Skip through the dialogue, and then hold left and crouch as soon as you can. If you do it quick enough, you can hit the boss without dying. This isn't possible to do on pc version. (I think, I did a lot of testing and wasnt able to get it back when I discovered this, I might just be bad though.) After that, I keep holding left to start the second phase of the fight. I don't reset here. I go over the rail and then slide down the blocks on the right to hit the boss again. Then, hold right until you hit the final checkpoint. Now you should press "r", and then pause the game once you respawn. Wait a few seconds to make sure the boss is dead, and then unpause/pause and exit out of the level. Skip the dialogue at the end.
