2017 Route Update - Glitchless Guide

All Bosses Route

This route is for the Japanese version of the game.
Time starts selecting "Start Game"

Mario's house
Bowser fight (skip tutorials)
Mushroom on right side of courtyard (Super Mushroom from toad)
1-UP Mushroom (trade Precious Item)
Mushroom from '?' block on hedge
Board the Koopa Cruiser

Walk through the first two rooms
Passport photoes
2 Mushrooms from '?' blocks
Check the barrel in the next room
Jump/counter during first Goomba fight
Jump during second Goomba fight
**Mario: level up POW**
Hit the '!' block at the end of the cruiser

**Fawful**
● Jump/counter w/ both bros.
● Skip the tutorial before turn 2

Border Jump (get hit twice with each bro to avoid extra fireworks)
Unlock __Pipe #1__
2 Mushrooms from '?' blocks on following screen
Talk to Tolstar, head right

16 coins from the bros. block
10 coin block on the next screen
Mushroom from '?' block
Take the bike pads to the left
12 coins from the bros. block
Go right a screen

Syrup; jump tutorial
Skip both repeat tutorials
Do the jump course, picking up the Mushroom and the Syrup
Exit the screen south

10 coin block on the right ledge
Syrup and coin block on the upper platform
Spin across; 12 coins from bros. block
Go right and complete the bros. attack tutorial

First strike the second Fighter Fly on the next screen
● M: Splash Bros. on Cannon
● L: Jump on Fighter Fly
● M: Splash Bros on Cannon
**Luigi: level up POW**

First strike the third Fighter Fly
● M: Splash Bros. on Cannon
● L: Jump on Fighter Fly
● M: Splash Bros. on Cannon

Pause and use a Syrup on Mario
10 coin block

First strike the fourth Fighter Fly
● M: Splash Bros. on Cannon
● L: Jump on Fighter Fly
● M: Splash Bros. on Cannon

**Mario: level up POW**

Pause and use a Syrup on Mario
8 coins from bros. block
*If you don't have at least 100 coins, head north and hit the 10 coin block*
Go left and talk to Tolstar

**Boss: Tolstar** (52 HP)
● Alternate Splash/Bounce Bros. for the whole fight
**Luigi: level up POW**

Pick up 2 Mushrooms in the cave

Head south down the stairs on the first screen of Hoohoo Village
Get the Mushroom all the way to the left
Enter the cave, pick up all the coins and the Mushroom
Exit the cave, loop around and head left
Take the lower path in the next room all the way to the left to Fawful
After the cutscene, backtrack right twice and take the upper-left path
Talk to the bottom Hoohooligan, then enter the Hammerhead Bros. house
Head left to the mountain

Go right on the first two screens
North, first strike the Dry Bones
● M: Jump on Beanie
● L: Bounce Bros. on Dry Bones
● M: Splash Bros. on Dry Bones
**Mario: level up POW**
**Luigi: level up POW**

Tunnel clip up to the '!' block
Mushroom from the '?' block

Go back down and extinguish the fire statue
Get the 1-UP and coins before Hoohooros

**Boss: Hoohooros** (45 HP)
● M: Jump on pillar that Hoohooros didn't hide under
● L: Jump on pillar
● M: Splash Bros. on Hoohooros
● L: Jump on pillar
● M: Splash Bros. on Hoohooros
● L: Jump on pillar
● M: Splash Bros. on Hoohooros
● L: Bounce Bros. on Hoohooros
● M: Splash Bros. on Hoohooros
● L: Bounce Bros. on Hoohooros
**Mario: level up POW**

Hit the '!' block and extinguish the fire statue
Collect the Syrup and head up through the next 3 screens, grabbing the Mushroom and Syrup before Dragohoho
Talk to Blablanadon

**Boss: Dragohoho** (80 HP)
● M: Splash Bros.
● L: Bounce Bros.
● Repeat
*After unlocking Bounce Bros Advance, fail the advance commands after the first action command (faster animation)*
**Luigi: level up STACHE**

*If Mario didn't unlock Splash Bros. Advance, make sure he gets it sometime before the Queen Bean fight (take an encounter somewhere and use Splash Bros.)*

Go left and get the Hammers
Drop down on the left and start the mountain descent (Nut on screen to the right)
Go right past the mine cart cave and get the items on the bridge
Backtrack and start the mine cart minigame

Hammer tutorial
Head south to Beanbean Castle Town
Cutscenes; enter the castle
Talk to the servant to the left

Sewers
Room 1: 3 corks, exit up
Room 2: wheel, 2 corks, exit up
Room 3: go right
Room 4: wheel, 4 corks, exit up
Room 5: 2 items, wheel, backtrack to room 3
Room 3: 3 items, 2 corks, exit up

Get all the items in the room behind Lady Lima; take the stairs up to Queen Bean

**Boss: Queen Bean** (100 HP)
● M: Splash Bros. Advance
● L: Hammer
● Repeat
**Mario: level up POW**
**Luigi: level up STACHE**
[section=Chucklehuck Woods 1 & Woohoo Hooniversity]
Exit the castle; badge tutorial
Leave town and activate __Pipe #4__
Talk to the guards on top of the cliff and head to Chateau de Chucklehuck

Walk through the barrel maze

**Boss: Popple & Rookie 1** (Rookie: 120 HP)
*Ideally, Luigi dies at the end of this fight when Popple attacks and runs away. Taking 2 hits from Rookie's hammers sets Luigi's HP up for the level up skip.*
● M: Splash Bros. on Rookie
● L: Bounce Bros. Advance (fail) on Rookie
● Repeat
**Mario: level up STACHE**
**Luigi: level up STACHE** (if he's still alive)

Pick up the items at the top-left of this room, then head left
Hammer moves tutorial
Get the green goblet first, then the red goblet
Enter the woods

Mushroom on second screen
Open the gate, head left at the save album and get the items on that screen
Go back and open the second gate

Barrel storage, sign glitch, head back a screen
Get the items in the right hedge
Action command glitch, get Barrel Hop on Mario's B button
Backtrack to the second screen and go up
Get the items and take __Pipe #5 to Pipe #4__

Go north to Hoohoo Mountain
Barrel clip past the black rocks, get the items and go up the stairs
1-UP, barrel clip to Monty Mole for a Max Nut
Barrel clip back and go to Teehee Valley

High Jump past the springs (using them will softlock the game)
Barrel clip past both rocks on the path
Hat teleport to Little Fungitown

Buy the Mush Badge from the badge shop and equip it to Mario
Sell everything at the item shop besides Mushrooms and Super Mushrooms (you can keep a 1-UP for safety)
Buy as many Mushrooms as possible
Take __Pipe #7 to Pipe #4__

Head right and barrel clip to Woohoo Hooniversity
From the main room, barrel clip into the bottom-right room
Use the water to move the block; hit it to open the way to the boss
Barrel Hop, clear action commands, and barrel clip back to the main room (keep blank A button on Luigi)
Items near the top-left of the room, Mushroom one room up if you want
Hit the block on the left with Luigi leading to keep blank A button
Go north, entering Cackletta's room with Luigi leading

**Boss: Cackletta** (300 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat
*From here on, Luigi should always use Knockback Bros. whenever possible to increase the advance command counter.*
*Both Mario and Luigi level up HP for the rest of the run (give Mario POW once or twice if he's extremely low).*

5 items from '?' blocks on the path to the Popple & Rookie fight
Use the sign near the locked door to get Barrel Hop on Luigi's B button
Barrel clip into the locked room
Clear all action commands here and High Jump up

**Boss: Popple & Rookie 2** (Rookie: 250 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros. on Rookie
● L: Knockback Bros. on Rookie
● Repeat
[section=Gwarhar Lagoon & Chucklehuck Woods 2]
Go left to the Fire Palace and get the Firebrand
Action command glitch at the hole near Luigi
Get Barrel Hop on Mario's B button
Head back to the entrance of the Fire Palace and get Barrel Hop on Luigi's B button
Exit and barrel clip to the surf spot and surf to Gwarhar Lagoon
Barrel clip past the black rock, then barrel clip to Hermie

**Boss: Hermie III** (380 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros. on Hermie III
● L: Knockback Bros. on left claw (right claw once the left claw is bandaged)
● Repeat
*If Hermie hides in his shell, use Hand on Mario's turn*

Barrel clip back to the surf spot and surf to Joke's End
Barrel clip past the black rocks and take __Pipe #9 to Pipe #5__
Barrel clip to the Winkle area, and then barrel clip to Popple

**Boss: Popple** (620 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat

Barrel clip out of the Winkle area, then barrel clip to the Chuckleroot and talk to him to open the gates
Clear action commands in the room to the left of the Chuckleroot *__(summoning a barrel in Chuckleroot's room (Barrel Break included) will crash the game)__*

Talk to Chuckleroot's granddaughter and dig up the 5 Chuckle Beans
Proceed to Wiggler

**Boss: Wiggler** (34 HP)
● M: Jump on 3rd segment
● Counterattack 1st or 2nd segments
● L: Knockback Bros. on 4th segment
● M: Jump on remaining segment
● L: Knockback Bros. on Wiggler

Use the hole for action command glitch
Backtrack to the Chuckleroot and hat teleport past him
Pick up the items on the way to Chuckolator

**Boss: Chuckolator** (300 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat
[section=Airport, Teehee Valley, & Joke's End]
Grab the Mushroom on the way through the cave
Castle cutscenes

Take __Pipe #3 to Pipe #4__
Head to the airport; use Mario's High Jump to get Thunderhand on Luigi
Clear the Piranhas on the entrance screen
Go two screens left and clear the Piranhas
Go back right and clear the final Piranha
Get Barrel Hop on Mario's B button

**Boss: Mom Piranha** (220 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros. on Mom Piranha
● L: Knockback Bros. on Piranha Plant
● Repeat

Talk to Lady Lima; cutscenes
Go to the throne room and talk to Queen Bean
Head to the item shop and sell everything besides Mushrooms and Super Mushrooms (you can keep a 1-UP for safety)
Buy as many Mushrooms as possible, then as many Super Mushrooms as possible
Exit town to the east and barrel clip into Teehee Valley

Watch Peach get kidnapped, return to the entrance screen and barrel clip past the black rock
Get the Super Mushroom and the 1-UP to the left
Hat teleport past the wall (The Big Skip)
Head left and take the yellow pipe
Barrel clip to the upper part of the room before Popple & Birdo
*__Enter the Popple & Birdo room with Mario leading, or else the game softlocks__*

**Boss: Popple & Birdo** (Birdo: 500 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros. on Birdo
● L: Knockback Bros. on Birdo
● Repeat

Take the yellow pipe up and rescue Peach
Escort Peach through the first two screens
Summon a barrel on screen 3 to hit the button (clear action commands afterwards on this screen)
Finish the escort

**Boss: Trunkle** (140 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros. on the tree

Go to the item shop and sell everything besides Mushrooms and Super Mushrooms (can keep 1-UPs for safety)
Buy as many Super Mushrooms as possible
Take __Pipe #7 to Pipe #3__
Action command glitch; get Barrel Hop on Mario's B button
__Pipe #3 to Pipe #9__

Head up and around to the fourth room
Barrel clip to the upper right room
Barrel clip to the '!' block, then back to the open door
Go left, up, left, up, and left again
Hat teleport out of bounds and skip the final door
Get Barrel Hop on Mario again and barrel clip up to Jojora's room

**Boss: Jojora** (Chucklissa: 500)
● M: Chopper Bros. on Chucklissa
● L: Knockback Bros. on Chucklissa
● Repeat

Backtrack to the staircase with Scaratroopeas and encounter the closest one
Deathwarp back to Beanbean Castle (make sure to pick the bottom option if you saved at all during the run)
Enter the castle to trigger the Bowser's Castle cutscene
Take __Pipe #3 to Pipe #1__
Use the sign in the spike room to get Spin Jump on Luigi's B button
Head to Hoohoo Village and talk to Blablanadon to go to Bowser's Castle
[section=Bowser's Castle]
Get the Ultra Mushroom on the left
Barrel clip up to Iggy's room
Barrel clip past the trigger for the dizzy sequence and encounter Iggy

**Boss: Iggy** (650 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat

Teleport out
Summon a barrel and swap Mario to front so both Mario and Luigi can jump
Walk through the next few rooms to Morton
Trigger Morton's cutscene, then summon barrel and swap Mario to front
Jump to Morton

**Boss: Morton** (900 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat

Teleport out
Barrel clip in the doorway and head right
Go up the stairs and left, and barrel clip up to the next room
Barrel clip up to the whirlwind room
Use Luigi's Spin Jump to travel to the right
Enter Lemmy's room (you can clear Luigi's Spin Jump now)

**Boss: Lemmy** (600 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat

Teleport out
Put out the fire to the left (you can head down here to get a 1-UP for safety)
Mechakoopa game
Summon barrel, then bring water to the next room
Hammer Mario in front of the left Piranha sprout to reveal the '!' block

**Boss: Ludwig** (700 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat

Teleport out
Hit the button past the fence (Super Mushroom on the right)
Get Barrel Hop on Mario's B button if you lost it somewhere
Enter the next door
Barrel clip to the button to unlock the gate
Unlock the next gate and grab the Ultra Mushroom and 1-UP
2D Mario section
Hit the simu-blocks on the way to Roy and teleport out

**Boss: Roy** (920 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat

Barrel clip up to the next door
Summon barrel and hit the button
Use barrel to light the torches
Barrel clip past the spike rollers (clear action commands)
Get the Ultra Mushroom and enter Wendy's room

**Boss: Wendy** (500 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros.
● Repeat

Teleport out
Backtrack to the fenced area between Ludwig and Roy; action command glitch for Barrel Hop on Mario's B button
Head back to the door after Roy and barrel clip in the doorway; go right
Use hammer in the next room to make it to the '!' block without Fire Dash
Go right at the branching path and barrel clip up to Larry's room
Barrel clip past the gate

**Boss: Larry** (600 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros. (you should get Knockback Bros. Advance here or earlier)

Teleport out, head up and around to the room before Fawful
Ultra Mushroom to the left of the save album

**Boss: Fawful** (430 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros. (need at least 4 hits)
● L: Knockback Bros. Advance

Ultra Mushroom on the right

**Boss: Bowletta** (700 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros.
● L: Knockback Bros. Advance

**Final Boss: Cackletta's Soul** (Head: 180 HP; Arms: 90 HP; Heart: 800 HP)
● M: Chopper Bros. on left arm
● L: Max Nut
● M: Chopper Bros. on head
● L: Knockback Bros. Advance on right arm
● M: Chopper Bros. on heart
● L: Knockback Bros. Advance on heart

Escape (summon barrel to hit the button if you still have Barrel Hop)
Talk to Blablanadon
