I really have no idea how to explain this. Killing game's process should make things go back to normal. Apparently, the former process didn't close properly and it was sharing memory(?) with the next instances somehow.

Anyway, just make sure that before creating your main party, 5th character is sitting on its place and restart the game everytime an attempt fails. I probably didn't understand it correctly, but you should do the skill points setup already on new party. And as far as I'm concerned, having blue screen doesn't really matter and shouldn't break the game when you're playing with 5th slot on a fresh party.
