Hey there, sorry for the Title! I've been practising with the Beginner Mode Category lately and was curious if anyone had any suggestions or advice to give me on this practice run of the beginning game here? So far it's the only part I can really do without getting Simba Crashed or massacring a Menu so all advice is greatly appreciated! To note, I noticed while going over the footage myself that recording kinda skips a piece of the Post-Sabor 1 Menu, not 100% sure why my PS4 did that.
After watching your run there are a few big things you should probably work on. The biggest is to just play the game to learn when you can skip a cutscene and when you need to be mashing text. You probably lost a solid 2-3 minutes just from that. The next thing is to just watch people run the game. If nobody is streaming a run, watch record. There are a few things that watching record over and over will teach you, like not going into the tent after the 2nd sabor fight because its not needed. You dont really need to focus on one certain thing to practice though because everything is a little slow or sluggish, which is common for a new runner of a game. Dont be discouraged from that. We've all been there. So in short, just play the game and watch people play the game. You will be surprised how much you pick up on from watching people run the game. Personally, when I started running this game on ps3, I would try to do at least 3-4 full runs of the game a week, and when I wasnt running the game, I was watching someone run the game. So just keep at it, and alot of stuff will come in time. Then once you get the fundamentals down, you can start looking into what worlds or fights you need to practice. Good luck with you learning!
I would also recommend joining the Discord linked here in the forums, you'll get a much better and faster response as many more runners actively check there as opposed to here in the forums.
I would also recommend if you are not already using a set of notes there is one I keep updated with the most recent route changes here under guides. You don't need to have everything that's in the one I posted just the things you have trouble remembering and it makes for a good refresher on some mechanical things (My version that I use is about 1/4th the length of the full notes). I also noticed your mashing especially on the power/defense ups was kinda slow if you did not know you can use both triangle and X and it makes it faster and if you switch to just triangle at the end you avoid keyblade swinging.
You actually can't use triangle in the menu, only X (or O in Japanese). Triangle only works for text boxes.
Yeah, I've been using x + Triangle for the text boxes during my practising today if I remember right couldn't you hit R3 instead of X when attacking? Gonna have to check later to see if that works in the menu. Thanks for the tips guys! I'll check out that guide when I'm able to get the opportunity!
Hey everyone,
About a month ago, sh2_luck released a patch for the Original PS2 Versions of Kingdom Hearts 1 that allowed for cutscenes to be skipped. Final Mix PS2 support was not included in the previously released patch version, but as of this release version Final Mix PS2 is now supported!
