In order to start a run you MUST be using a Vanilla copy of OpenGOAL and you MUST enable the Speedrun mode found under Options -> Game options -> Miscellaneous -> Speedrunner mode.

This will automatically skip the opening cutscene when starting a new game.

Additionally once you are in-game, you can hold L1+R1+X and press either Start or Select to bring up the Speedrun Menu to quickly reset or to change categories.
