I think it'd be super fun if we could have a leaderboard for NES Remix or Remix 2 (or both as one leaderboard since they're set up the same, just different titles).
But the problem is that it's a ton of IL times, which I can't think of a good way to set it up for how Speedrun.com has most their leaderboards. I was thinking having it like under the boxart how it's got "Full Game Leaderboard" and "Level Leaderboard", just having it for each of the games it has, and it'll have when selected each stage.
But I'm not sure, so I thought i'd make a thread seeing what you all thought. Or if we should just not have it up as a leaderboard. Which is understandable since it'd be like 240 individual times, and all. Could get crowded on people's profiles. But then again, Minecraft has a few things like that (even a category that the current record is .001 millisecond) so it might have hope!
What are your thoughts?
Thinking more about it, we could have a leaderboard for each game on NES Remix/2, and the speedrun could be doing all of the stages of a game and the timer ends on the final "finish" alert on the last stage. That could work, though it'd be 14 categories (14 titles) in just Remix 2 alone.
That's just me throwing ideas out there cause I think NES Remix/2 being accessible to both 3DS and Wii U owners means it would be a great game to have up. It was also a Club Nintendo reward for two different years too.
Example of long IL leaderboards : http://www.speedrun.com/aoe1 I don't see it as an issue at all :)
Ohhh that is long, so that's okay if it's around 240 or so? Seeing that leaderboard makes me think I shouldn't combine NES Remix 1 or 2 and make each their own game. This way we could maybe do full speedruns of the game in one go maybe. Not sure yet. Wish more who played the game might show up here and maybe discuss possibilities on setting this board up. XD
So to post an example, in NES Remix 2 there's several games. One is Super Mario Bros. 3 with 16 individual levels each timed (and has the best time you had on the menu so easy to verify with a pic, and with replay options so easy for video too).
So were I to do like AOE1, I would just make a long list like
Super Mario Bros. 3 - Stage 1 Super Mario Bros. 3 - Stage 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 - Stage 3
etc? Or how else would you recommend?
Sory if I'm being annoying, I'm new to Speedruns.com and want to make sure that this would be as user friendly, and organized as possible. XD
Thank you for the response!
I'd suggest to keep NES Remix 1 and 2 separated but you can put as many ILs as you want in each.
For your last concern, no worries, it's normal that people need help ^^
Alright, final question.
I don't know what a full run would entail, like if we'd do a full run of individual titles, or if a run would be all 169 ILs in Remix 2. I just know that many would participate in submitting just IL's as these times are documented in-game.
So when it asks me to submit a run on the request game page, would a VOD of me going through all of the Zelda II challenges as fast as possible be okay? Or would me going through all my times in a vid be okay? Or shold I attempt doing them all in one go? XD
Just want to make sure I get everything down perf. =)
Thank you so much for all your help!
EDIT: Man, submitting 350+ ILs seems like it'd be a ton of work, on top of approving that for any players who want to submit x.x; Wonder if there's any way that the process could be faster, like allowing a mass submission or something? =O I guess I don't mind doing it hte long way, cause it'd look beautiful once it's all settled after initial flood, but never hurts to ask.
EDIT2: Hold on, that AoE leaderboard you sent me has Individual Levels, and when you go to it has multiple categories for them.
Does that mean for Individual Levels I could put the game title, and then have a category for each stage? That would be so organized! THANK YOU FOR SHOWING ME THAT GYOO! X3
So did your edits answer all the questions you have ? ^^'
In case you still wonder, there's no fast way to input all the 350+ ILs, sadly.
They didn't answer my question no lol
What do I submit with my Game Submission? I don't know what would be acceptable for a game that'll mainly be ILs
Another thing that should help giving you an idea : http://www.speedrun.com/tsam (Yes, there's only ILs for this game)
Oh okay, that post answered it then. So I CAN just submit IL times as the video and it be okay.
Thank you! ^ ^ I'll submit the game (series) tonight.
Do the two games look alright?
I just spent like 3 hours trying different things and work arounds. XD
I ended up doing for the IL Categories the highest number for a Game's challenges. Some have 20, some have only 7. But since you can't have each IL having its own category settings, I just went with the highest number.
Is that okay?
It looks just fine. It goes a bit too much to the right but there's nothing you can do about it, and it's also the best way you can handle all your ILs so keep it that way.
Lately, because of Nintendo's announcement of The Nintendo World Championships, there's been a boom in people playing NES Remix 2 for a "High Score" in Championship Mode. So my question is is there a way to do High Scores on the leaderboard, or is it exclusively times only?
I'm just throwing the question out there. There's no need for it really, but thought I'd ask since a lot of people are running Championship Mode as opposed to trying to get solid times in the main game right now due to the World Championships.
We'd like to get points based leaderboard functionality implemented but atm it's times only.
