Hiya! This serves as a reliable and updating compendium of the known bugs in Fear & Hunger. Both the ones we use commonly in speedruns and the ones we don’t. For each subcategory, an additional explanation will be provided. As it stands currently, this is heavily still under construction. I will document these according to how important the community thinks it is to be written about. The unfinished sections will be in italic.

Debug Tiles

There are tile events that the developer forgot to remove after creating them to test out the game. Most of these are out-of-bounds and require Phase step to reach, thus will be marked as “OOB” next to the event type.

Runner SuperRPGgamer made a video covering most of these debug tiles. Even if we find new ones, the most important ones that we used will be mentioned in this great video!

Cut Content

There’s a bunch of content that is cut from the game throughout its nasty long development time. A lot of them are still accessible through common means, and they will be addressed per “cut-type”, that being either unused, old or unfinished. As of now, only the “Fake” Cube of the Depths has been documented, and even this page needs a finishing touch, specifically regarding how it recharges. (as it is inconsistent as hell)

Sequence Breaking

There’s an intended order of actions to do each ending, which the documentation clarifies at the start. After which we’ll be breaking each of these steps

Torch-Skipping

Step in any direction. When you light a torch - using [T] - right before coming to a standstill, you will override whatever is supposed to happen when stepping on that tile. Obviously, this only works if you have a torch.

Phase Step

Phase step is a skill you can obtain only through an Empty scroll. It’s able to be bound to a key in settings and by default is bound to [C]. It’s technically Cut content, though the developer has stated he left it in the game for dataminers to find and play around with, and it is ungodly useful. Therefore it gets its own category, as this subject will be large and thorough.

Infinite Item Sources

Baby’s first bug... usually. These are specifically intended for sources that infinitely give you their item, and does not account for debug tiles.

Cube-Skips

This category of bugs involves everything that directly allows you to enter Ma’habre or travel back and forth in time.

“Leg” Sweeps

Leg sweep might just be one of the least functional skills in the game. It works on most legs, sometimes it can’t cut a specific leg, sometimes it works on eyes, sometimes on tentacles. We’ll be looking at everything that isn’t supposed to be leg swept and also everything that is.

Bossfight Slicing

Bossfights are able to be won only partially through, if you do enough damage in one hit. Usually they force transformation after dealing a certain amount of damage, but if you manage to overshoot that line you can kill, say, the God of Fear and Hunger in phase 2.

Multiclassing

Multiclassing sounds cool but it’s rather lame: after entering a character name when creating a new one, you can still move around and select other characters as the screen fades to black. This does some funky variables stuff that the other subjects explain in detail, but will be mentioned here either way. This bug is very niche and has little to no substance, so I will likely make an “Others” category where all the tiny bugs like this one are detailed.
