If you're looking for an old niche turn-based JRPG to play on your free time, then Evolution Worlds may be the game for you. Here are some tips for you if you're looking to run the game and not really familiar with it yet.
1 ) Blind Relics and Heaven Relics are completely randomized.
- Blind Relics always has 6 Floors, enemy types on each floor will be the same, but layout and item pool is always different.
- Heaven Relics always has 11 Floors, there is guaranteed to be equipment, but there is a rare chance the Gourmet Frying Pan can be found.
2 ) If you play the Imperial Army Arc on the same seed, the layout will be the exact same if you soft reset. Spawns will still be random, but you can still know exactly where the stairs are if you explore both dungeons before starting your run.
3 ) When you're given an assignment from Nina or Professor Whitehead, you'll be given access to pick up an additional member of your choice.
- Pepper has the highest damage and defense early on, a healing cyframe, but takes 40% of the dungeon reward.
- Chain has moderate damage against multiple enemies, grants faster movement, but takes 20% of the dungeon reward.
- Gre is weak, has cyframe enhancements and one healing ability, and leaves the entire dungeon reward to you.
- Carcano is expected be stronger than the entire party if no grinding took place before the Society Dungeon.
4 ) Running at a diagonal on a wall is slightly faster than running straight. Only works in top-down view and not first person view.
5 ) All parameter stats are important in the game. Here's a brief explanation of each one:
- Attack makes characters deal more damage.
- Defense makes characters take less damage.
- Agility makes characters attack more frequently.
- Evasion makes characters dodge more frequently.
- Luck makes characters more likely to land and avoid getting hit by critical hits.
6 ) Experience is given based on who lands the killing blow.
- Technical Points are given based on how quickly enemies are defeated.
7 ) Formation and enemy placement is very important.
- Front Row: High Attack, Low Defense, Low Agility.
- Mid Row: Medium Attack, Medium Defense, Medium Agility.
- Back Row: Low Attack, High Defense, High Agility.
- Generally, Linear will always be in the back row because her damage output is low. However, if the Gourmet Frying Pan is found, it temporarily makes her deal more damage than Mag if it's found in the Heaven Relics.
- Some enemy attacks are Formation based (Rafflesia, Yurka, and Ulticanon have attacks that hit targets depending on their formation placement)
8 ) Most traps are randomized in the game, however, there is a trap specifically in the Pine Village on the first floor that heals all HP and FP.
9 ) Money is extremely tight in the game. The best way to gain more is to sell items and appraisals obtained in dungeons. Certain appraisal items can be combined to make more expensive ones.
10 ) Talents can be leveled up throughout the game. Mag has a different talent with each party member in the game. While every other character only has one.
- Talents are usable once per battle and reusable after 5-10 battles.
11 ) Item combinations are important for maintaining free space and ease of access. Here's some basic combinations
- Naolin + Naolin = Naolin Set [2]
- Naolin + Naolin Set [2] = Naolin Set [3]
- Above works for Herbs, Mokana Ampoles, variations of Naolin (Gold, Royal, Naolin+, etc.)
- Purol + Somnol = Purisomnol
- Psychol + Visuol = Psychovisuol
- Mobiol + Venomol = Mobivenomol
- Above works for (Plus Variations as well)
- Forward Curse + Forward Curse = More Forward Curse
- Above applies to Backward Curse
12 ) Encounters are almost inevitable, but it's important to choose battles wisely. Some fights might be worth for gaining more experience and Technical Points.
- A fight with a Popo Tribesman is going to go a lot smoother than a fight with an Archaeopteryx.
- In the Society Dungeon, fighting certain enemies will guarantee a lot of EXP and TP.
13 ) Upgrading Cyframes raises the overall attack parameter of the character and increases the damage output of them
- Different Cyframes have different parameter growth. For example, Mag's Hand Parts only increase the attack parameter by 5 upon level up. But the Hammer Parts increase the attack Parameter by 10 upon leveling up.
- The amount of Fight Points required to use a skill is reduced when the cyframe part is leveled up.
14 ) Learning a skill in battle prevents Fight Points from being deducted. Effective damage dealing moves will be saved for bosses.
- Fight Points gradually recovers upon attacking, using items, changing formation, and defending. Less FP is given based on the examples listed in descending order given.
- FP does not gradually recover when using talents or skills.
