Annotated Staff Route Guide

So you're playing in a marathon or an All-Endings run when... oh no! There's no Demon Idol! You're on a Staff Route game, and your run has suddenly gotten a lot worse. But you can't reset now! What to do?

Well, it turns out, there's a lot to do. A "lot lot." Hopefully this guide will be of assistance.

Ending Flowchart

The ending flags for this game are messy and all over the place, so this flowchart is, too. It pains me to busy it up by having stuff like "Have you discovered how to kill Scissorman?" show up four times instead of being consolidated, but there was no way I could think of to do that and still have the chart be functionally readable... Maybe someone better than me at flowcharts can pick up the slack! I don't like flowcharts anymore.

It'd be easy for me to miss mistakes in this spaghetti pile, so hopefully it's accurate enough.

Starting... Well i know no one gives a fuck about Clock Tower, but...
The game is pretty exploitable, and no one even cared about glitches while "running" the game, eh...
Then let's begin. I hope any runner read that guide.

-Hole Skip (0:57~2:00)

you can force dialog while running, making you clip trough the role in the floor. It also works using your inventory (when you're going back)

with dialog: Right after you start running press dialog. If done right the character will clip and you can run normaly trough it.
with inventory: Press run, inventory and run again. The timing is easier for this one. Don't need to do as fast as the dialog clip

-Fast Doll Triggering (3:12~3:30) i did wrong in the video lol was to pass trough her

Right after she spawns keep pressing to run to left, count 1~2 seconds and run to right while pressing action button.
If done correctly the Doll will attack right after you end in left corner and when you run to right, will pass trough the doll (when she tries to hit you).

-Text Skip (3:55~4:10 and 6:23~6:30)

Easy as fu¤¤. First you need to have an item in your inventory, then before the dialog trigger keep inventory button pressed while running, when you see the dialog press right, left in the inventory at right time and will skip the dialog. You can't skip her Father's dialog.

Note: A new version of Text Skip has been found as of a couple days ago. Simply press A (Inventory) and Y (Select) at the same time when clicking on an object that'll cause a cutscene, and if done right, your inventory will be pulled up at the same time you interact with it. Allowing you to use the items in your inventory to skip the dialog.

-Dog Skip (4:45~5:40) [was explaining the wrong time and about softlock] 

run until the character stops. Then, press to run to right once. behind her will appear a dialog box. Be aware because if you press before running will softlock the game. Next press run to right again and press dialog box right before the bad end trigger (right before the dog's nose). This glitch is much easier than Hole skip, but there is no room for missing here.

-Screen Freeze (4:30~4:45)

this one is shitty, don't save any time but you can do it accidentally while trying to skip texts.
keep pressing right, left, right left and the screen will freeze while the character is running.

-Action glitch

You can pass trough the scissor man when Jeniffer does any action. Examples:
.Climbing stairs
.entering in doors

-Doll Animation Skip

If you try to leave the room at the same time that the Doll tries to run into you, the text and animation from the door will take priority, and prevent Jennifer from falling down.

-How to kinda manipulate RNG

The RNG deppends on your menu'ing, i would recommend a metronome for the right timing. 
The RNG starts after 48th frame after you start the game... too lazy to check out the right frame but is 48 if i don't remember.
And there are 1 adress that will determinate the RNG, and it goes from 128 to -128 every 3 seconds or so. It'll determinate twice:
-Before the menu (logo and Start Screen)
-Game Menu 

You also can try your luck but take some time like I did on my pb (1 out of 22 tries for good RNG). RNG manipulation is double frame perfect in this game... but is possible to manipulate if you skip the logo and start screen frame perfect (that isn't hard),
and wait 7 frames on menu to press quick start (that's hard as fuck lol). There is another ways also but lazy to study about it. 
Because for example:
If first RNG is 15 and second RNG number is 10, 11, 12 you'll always know what RNG you get.
But if the first RNG is 16 and the second is 10, 11, 12 will be totally different lol.

-Strats for S ending

There are 2 good RNG's for S Ending. It should improve your success rate from +-5% to +-8% ( percetage based on demon idol route)

S Ending speed-run route

This is currently the fastest known route for the S Ending of the game, for a video example look at the current WR

For an explanation/demonstration of how to do the various glitches in the run read the guide written by SakuraFreak.

- RNG Manipulation. (Hope for Perfect RNG. Being the Library on the left of the Ceremony room, and the crow room being on the left of the Doll room)

- Grab Key from the box.

- Action Glitch past Scissorman, enter West Wing Door on bottom floor.

- Enter Library, and push over the bookshelf. Then read the Demon Idol book.

- Hole skip, and grab the Demon Idol, then text skip the pipe and enter the secret prison

- Find the hidden room. (As long as you do all the actions as fast as possible the box won't shake)

- Text skip the Medical Bag, and don't be an idiot like everyone else was. Just leave the room right away

-Hole Skip again using your inventory.

- Go into Doll Room and Text Skip ceremony key while hoping for good Doll RNG.

- Head to the Crow Room, and text skip both the key and the crows.

- Head to the Ceremony room, and place the Demon Idol on the dish, then text skip the trapdoor if you feel confident.

- Text skip before Dog Skip, during Dog Skip, and after Dog Skip. Then Text Skip Lotte

- Head into the cave, and set the baby on fire.

- Go into the elevator, Hold up, and mash to get to 3rd floor ASAP.

- Everything is automatic until Mary tries to strangle you, when she does mash B. Time is after the portrait in the bottom-left stops flashing.

- Stand in the rain with Laura, and be thankful the RNG was with you.

Speed-run differences between SNES/WiiVC and PSX

The point of this guide is to document all the known differences between the original version of Clock Tower, and it's Playstation counter-part "The First Fear." Testing is still being done on my part so this may get updated frequently.

Differences that affect all endings:

- Action glitch to get past Scissorman after Ann's death does not work on the Playstation remake.

Differences that affect endings that go to the final elevator:

- The key to the crow room cage is in the room with the closet on the very left of the West Wing. You must also fight an enemy to get the key in this room.

- Hole skip does not work.

- Dog skip does not work, this forces endings that go to the clock tower to obtain the cloak and perfume. (You can get RIGHT in-front of the trigger, but there's something that prevents you from going past it using the clickable spot where Jennifer is)

- Lotte dialog skip is untested, but due to how the inventory works is assumed that it does not work. (Inventory pauses the game when you go into it, and the game resumes after you leave the inventory)

- There's a chance for a different Doll to come to "life" in the Doll Room. Also Jennifer checks the door on her own, and the doll seems to trigger right away. Eliminating the need to "quick trigger" in the Playstation version.

- For the A ending in the Playstation version, there's a wine glass in the kitchen that puts you right into the cell with Mr.Barrows after you get the ham, saving some time. (However the Playstation version is still slower for the A ending because Dog skip doesn't work, forcing you to get the robe and perfume as well as having to go into an extra room to free the crows)

Overall the SNES version is the fastest version for speed-running.
