Turn on all Handicaps except One Heart and no Deathbombs.
Play this part as Natalie with graze range up.
Complete 1-2 on Hard with 2 players. (P2 should be Slime Bunny for the other 5 levels)
Turn off everything but Pacifist.
Complete 1-2 three times, then 1-5 on Hard, with 2 players.

Buy Invincibility, turn on attack +30%, invincibility, sword/shield/magnet/more items dropped. Grind Akron with Natalie+Raging Firestorm for 2,107 cash per run.

basic modern guide

matt is usually fastest. tap primary fire for increased damage from spread shot

natalie destroys bosses. hold x on top of the boss

+30% speed handicap saves time

holding control on level start skips dialogue

holding control on last wave speeds up score screen appearing

usually pick up diamonds/hearts as late as possible for max value from your weapon charge

resetting medals mid run to re-earn achievements is fastest money

when recording with OBS, right click > disable preview. some programs on your computer make your character's mouse tracking worse, so be careful with what you have open

play on steam version (expansion)

routes in this game are VERY complex. heavenly no cheats and 100% are the most complex. any% NG+ unrestricted is the least complex. write notes for your route if you want a good time

Boss glitch guide

Natalie has a sub weapon that absolutely destroys bosses, the raging firestorm.

It has a mechanic where if touches any hitbox, it will destroy itself and deal damage. However, if you hold the x button to summon the firestorm while touching the hitbox, it will keep spawning the firestorm until the enemy with the hitbox dies.

To get the best effect on a boss, run into it and hold x. Then, make sure to keep an eye on your health as it will fluctuate up or down as you gain hearts from getting perfect waves and lose it by taking damage.

An important note about this trick: It only works while you have access to keyboard controls. Also, if you are using just keyboard controls, you CANNOT MOVE while doing the glitch. If you do move while on keyboard, you will have to stop moving, release x and then press it again to reset the glitch. This works fine for most maingame bosses (expansion bosses not so much), but you will end up losing some time due to the boss moving out of range. To counteract the timeloss, start your bossglitch in a location where the boss doesn't run off as easily. For example, if the boss moves left first, start your boss glitch towards the left of the boss's hitbox.

Guide to multiplayer strategy.

Before playing, Make sure that everyone knows how there main and sub weapons work, especially how the indication bars change their shooting.

One heart handicap should be off. This is because of the respawn system in multiplayer. The level doesn't end until all players are dead, but it takes less time to have everyone die than it does to respawn (5 seconds is a long time.)

For ideal team setups (any%):

2 players - non-boss
One person plays matt, the other plays dnl (dry no legs). This way the matt can deal with high dmg targets while the dnl cleans everything else.
The matt should be setup with cactus and holy swords, and should be the one who does all the bombing. The dnl should be setup with default costume and bullet hell to maximize the spread dmg.


2 players: boss
Both people play matt. He just deals too much damage, and the boss glitch is limited to one orb without movement on multiplayer. One matt should play with default costume instead of cactus juice, both should use holy swords.

For additional players, add a matt with default costume for 3 players, and a dnl that switches to matt with default costume for bosses on 4 players.

How to play matt (aka the main speedrun character of this game)

Matt's main strength is his ability to deal large amounts of damage from his main weapon, which spreads and can wipe out many enemies at once. To get the most value out of this, you must: 
1. Make sure you are only firing when you have enough charge to maintain spread
2. Are far enough away that the spread reaches multiple enemies

Additionally, make sure that you are using your diamonds effectively by shooting off as much of your spread as possible before picking up the diamond.

Matt's best sub is the Holy Swords. This is because it stores a lot of damage in charge, and that same charge can be expelled rather quickly.

Some things dont have hitboxes

There are a few non-mandatory enemies[NME] (meaning that you don't need to kill them to clear the level) in the game that don't have hitboxes. This means that if desired, you can go straight through them to get kills, which is sometimes faster.
