I don't know if this is known or not, but you can hookshot the push the middle block. Then quickly hookshot the chest allowing you to open it. Then if you hold right you can drain the pond without having to enter and reexit

Hooking through a block while pushing is known; however, in the NMG route, those bombs aren't needed unless you skip other bombs in the route or make a mistake in bomb usage.
