Zamiell beat the rebirth 1 character world record for rebirth, this time not practicing the seed beforehand. However, he still used crooked sillypears' program to automatically reset for him until he got isaac's heart and bloodrights. IMO, this is a tool assisted speedrun and should be removed from the leaderboards soon. Maybe the mods can give some more info and straighten out the rules of what is allowed and not allowed? I have also posted this in the rebirth forums for visibility.
I don't agree, in the end what's the difference between this and someone holding the R button? There's absolutely no competitive edge gained through this method.
That's true Antizoubilamaka. That run isn't legit. I think the use of these programs should be banned for speedruns.

You cannot hold R on Eden. For resets you have to exit and restart a run due to the mechanic of "using" an Eden Token obtained each time you kill It Lives!. To be honest I'm kind of surprised it worked for Rebirth. I would have figured the code injection would have changed between the DLC but apparently not?
The automatically hold r script is modifying the game because you can't actually hold r to reset on Eden. This is sickening and disgusting that it would be submitted as a WR. FrankerZ696's meme is more of a valid run than Lance "Zamiell" Armstrong's joke of a cheat.
Ok you're both right about the R button, but it's not like he's using this in the middle of a 7-13 character speed run so the time he achieves is still just the same as he would have gotten doing it the tedious way. I honestly don't see an issue here for the 1 character category.
He could have done it the regular way which would have taken twice as long but the end result would have been the same, a new WR. In fact those who are serious about this category should rather be embracing this method as it'll save you a lot of dead time.
I honestly don't see an issue here for the 1 character category.
And what about the absence of cinematics between floor and floor? That not ocurrs in a real game.
Are you sure that's the case Krakenos? I don't remember an option in the config.ini to remove cutscenes. It was to handle graphics options.
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Zamiell/isaac-racing-mods/master/program/other-files/config.ini
Here is the current config.ini that Zam has included in his mods. If one of those options correlates to what you're referring to, please let me know which, because as far as I know the only way to remove the scenes in between is to edit other files (cutscenes.xml -- https://github.com/Zamiell/isaac-racing-mods/blob/master/program/jud6s/cutscenes.xml).
Oh I thought that by lack of cinematics Beld_X meant different fade in animation between floors. It indeed looks like zam had modified cutscenes.xml during run.
I just watched it and I do believe the cutscenes were removed. I don't think I've ever seen anyone (even BrainTM) spam spacebar/enter fast enough to make transitions between floors go that fast.
The cutscenes were not removed; I played on the vanilla game + the eden resetting thing. It's trivial to skip the cutscenes on the first possible frame by mashing spacebar with your left hand and enter with your right hand as fast as humanly possible. I'd imagine that most speedrunners probably don't care about doing this since they don't care about losing frames. However, I'm a perfectionist. =)
Then, if you are a perfectionist, why don't you play the game legit whitout mods and show us your real skills? :)
You're using a mod to skip the cutscenes between floor and flloor. In the real game the screen doesn't fade to black. If you don't believe me you can watch Brain's PB -> http://www.speedrun.com/run/7ylrdw2y
Beld, I see no difference between Brain skipping cutscenes and Zam, besides the different fade out animation, if that's what you mean, it's just config setting https://steamcommunity.com/app/250900/discussions/0/613941122558099449/ Also I believe Zam because he is long time member of community, and I believe he doesn't care as much for this wr to lie about stuff he used during run.
I don't care if he is a liar or not, that's not the question and the point of this threat. My only wish is that people that do speedruns of this game do it legally, playing the original game without mods. If you say that I can remove the cutscenes and I can configure the screen fade out in the options and it's legit, then I have nothing to say about it. However, what will you do with the program that mentions Antizoubilamaka? Because Zam's run has been accepted in Rebirth's leaderboard.
Beld,
I don't think you are actually reading any of the posts in this thread, which doesn't make for a very constructive conversation! I'm happy to address this bit by bit so that you can understand:
-
The cutscenes are not removed. Please take the time to re-read my post above. If you don't believe me, take 5 minutes out of your day and actually try doing the method that I described. You should easily be able to accomplish it on your very first try!

Krakenos linked a thread authored by Simon, one of the actual developers who work on The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Please take the time to click on his link and read through all of the contents. From that link, we find that the in-game graphics menu does not actually contain all of the graphics settings for the game; it is only possible to accomplish some settings through a "config.ini" file. Again, this is not a mod - it is a game configuration recommended by the actual developer of the game for people with poor computers. The screen WILL fade like this if you use the config.ini file recommended by Simon. BrainTM doesn't use a config.ini file, so that's why his game looks different.
so it is only possible to accomplish some settings through a "config.ini" file
As I said before, if I can configure some settings in a file and you say it's legit, then i have nothing to say about it. Don't doubt I'll do it.
@CrafterLynx, that's certainly one possible way to define modding. However, consider that by that definition, anyone who wants to disable Steam Cloud or use a mouse to control Epic Fetus would then be using an "illegal mod", which seems a little silly. Furthermore, using this definition would invalidate a bunch of runs currently already on the leaderboard, such as BrainTM's 3rd place time in the 13 character category. Finally, consider that people with poor computers are unable to play the game with the default settings, so that with this definition you effectively outlaw a segment of the community from being able to speedrun at all.
Overall, it seems somewhat clear that all of these things are things that should have been programmed into the in-game options menu from the get-go, but it just wasn't done due to lack of time or laziness.
Zamiell, speedrun legit as all people do, its very simple.
I dont mind about 1 char meme wr, but you're laughing in all speedrunners face with this tricky methods.
