Hello, I have a question for moderators:
Have you considered investigating the possibility of allowing the New Vegas Tick Fix as a legal mod for speedruns? It's a state of the art, open-sourced, performance mod (recommended and included in the famous Viva New Vegas mod suite) that also decouples the game's physics from the game's renderer.
I have hope that this mod would simplify the setup of New Vegas for new runners, remove the need for using 3rd-party software to limit the game's framerate (while keeping input lag low), and improve the play experience for runners who own high refresh rate monitors.
Best regards and thank you for any answers
I just wonder, has anyone ever done a run (Any% Unrestricted, Glitchless, or All Planets) with the Restored Content Mod? Is that something that would be fun or interesting in some way? It would probably be a bit longer since the mod restores some cutscenes/scripted sequences. For the longer categories, it might force you to pay a bit more attention to your companions because of the added mandatory non-Exile sections in Nar Shaddaa. Could spice up the route a bit perhaps. If you guys ever got yourself a Category Extension board, I feel like a TSLRCM category would be right at home there (maybe even one for M4-78 for the truly masochistic ones :D )
Since Elden Ring is part of the Souls series on speedrun.com (https://www.speedrun.com/souls), why isn't Sekiro a part as well?
Hra by měla být vidět tady: https://www.speedrun.com/polda_series Rád bych poprosil moderátora této hry, aby požádal adminy stránky, aby to tam přidali
Something very annoying that has happened to me in my last run and I don't know why. My ghosts were getting scanned which meant they were dying even though I went past the turrets with them. I've never seen that happen before and I have no idea what caused it. A very promising run died because of this :(
I saw this tutorial in the Guides section https://www.speedrun.com/doom_unity/guide/04vox but it's clearly marked as outdated so I wondered if you guys could help me and steer me in the direction of whatever might have supplanted this guide. Thanks :)
Which one is faster and how significant is the difference?
HROT is a new fastpaced, Quake-like retro shooter. It features a full campaign episode of 8 levels. Requests to establish a leaderboard for it keep getting rejected on the basis of the game being in Early Access. This is incredibly hypocritical for several reasons.
-
Speedrun.com has a rich history of leaderboards for games in Early Access. Factorio and Black Mesa are just two high profile examples. Factorio had many major patches, each requiring a new category because it changed the route. Black Mesa had a successful leaderboard for many years before the last four chapters of the game were even added.
-
The current game request rules say nothing about Early Access games being unacceptable. Specifically, the rules state:
"Games in a very early development stage will be examined much more thoroughly, and if balancing and bug changes are happening quite frequently we may hold off on accepting the request for a board until the game is more developed."
This is not the case with HROT. The core mechanics of movement, weapons and enemies have remained unchanged for the last 7 months. No major changes have been communicated by the developer and none are expected. It is fair to say that the mechanics and hence the speedrun route are established and the game is in Early Access only because more levels will be added in future. This addition will in no way invalidate runs that would be submitted now.
- Finally, the fact that HROT has been rejected despite the facts I stated above seems to be in high contradiction with the fact that the shooter ULTRAKILL (also in Early Access) not only also has a leaderboard but has had a leaderboard since it was merely a Steam Demo, something that HROT was 7 months ago.
Following directly these points, I would ask any moderator in question to please reconsider the stance towards HROT and accept the request for the establishment of a speedrun.com leaderboard.
Thank you
Should a LiveSplit addon for Unity Doom that would time in-game time only be developed, would you consider a change to the rules? Thankfully, Unity Doom doesn't suffer from loading time disparities across different systems (I think) but still, using in-game times as is done for the original Doom/Doom 2 is much more elegant than RTA.
