I have interest in running this game with another person. However, the boards are geared toward single-player runs. I'm requesting either a subcategory be made for co-op (2+ or for 2,3, and 4) or allow multiple players to be submitted while keeping the categories as is. Thank you in advance.

There is a trophy for all medallions, so if trophies are to be included in 100% (which they should) then medallions are also required for 100%.Even if medallions were not required, you would still have to go through the game again in explore mode for costumes. As for snack collecting for costume purchasing, there are multiple games where grinding for currency tend to be required for 100%ing. I haven't tested it myself, but I think the amount of snacks you would be able to collect within two runs through the game (in story then in explore mode) would be pretty close to the amount required for all costumes. However, we could make it that only gathering all the costumes, not buying them, would be the requirement if it turns out excessive grinding is necessary, but that would be a last resort.

from my understanding, explore mode allows you to go through a level with all 5 characters available at all times, rather than being limited to the default 2. I don't know exactly how much this changes gameplay outside of being able to unlock secrets requiring a non-default character (i.e. how distinct are the characters movesets, including costume modifications).

if i understand your question, you are asking why someone is able to claim world record without video proof. This is something I've been wondering about for a bit now as a mod. When I first made this board, I was the only person who had done a run and the only one who had shown any interest in the game (as little as it was) for quite a while. Also, at that time I had no way of recording a 2+ hour run (as it was a full game any% run) so I made the boards not require video proof since i figured I was going to be the only one on the board and anyone who was going to fake a time for a (dare i say) "meme" game was such a low possibility and honestly a meaningless one.

However, now that this game has started to pick up some runners (particularly for individual levels) I have been wondering whether or not video proof should become a requirement for submission. Because now it is not merely my opinion on the subject that matters (since I am not really running the game at all) but the opinions of those running and those wanting to run the game. And having a board filled with WRs that do not have video proof, as the level leaderboard currently is, does not seem very good for those coming in or for those wanting to improve.

So I can either simply require video for all times going forward (all new runs will require video proof) but leave the runs that currently do not have video up on the boards until they are replaced with runs including video;or I can wipe the boards of all runs without video. I'd like some additional opinions on this decision, including alternative plans of action.

It would depend on if we are going to define 100% for an individual level as being only all medallions or have it also include all trophies/costumes in that level. Episode 1 full (100%) would require beating each level 100% (the boss would be done like any% since there is no extra collectibles in it). So if we define each level's 100% as getting only medallions, then you would not have to do explore mode (unless there are medallion in explore mode that are not in the normal mode). If we define it as doing all trophies/costumes associated with the level, then I believe explore mode would be required to 100% each level. If the costumes that are in the normal mode do not reappear in the explore mode (i.e. you are unable to reacquire these costumes in explore mode), then i think it may require playing through these levels in explore mode as well as normal. Otherwise, they can just be played in explore mode. The chase and boss would only need to be done once.

Zorark,

For the level 100%, I put collecting all medallions as the requirement for each level (besides bosses) as I believe there are at least some in each level. If there aren't, I am not currently aware of what levels do not possess them as I have yet to 100% this game casually. There are also some levels where there are specific in-game trophies associated with them, which may or not be included in 100% for that level. Also, there are the costume chests (in some or all levels outside of bosses). With these chests there are the ones you can get with the default characters in the levels (the "required" costumed) and the ones you need to play "Free Mode" to get. So it may be that playing a level in "Free Mode" would be required to 100% a level (or perhaps playing through both modes, should the "required" costume chests not reappear in Free Mode) should it be decided costumes are also required for 100% for levels.

So the point is when I first set up the level leaderboards, I figured there should be a 100% (or full clear of a level) category in addition to the any%. Since trophies are not always present in every level, and there are costumes that require playing in a different mode (Free Mode) and are also (maybe) not always present in levels, I figured medallions would be the most universal "collectible" between levels (besides bosses, which I guess wouldn't have a 100% completion, but I don't know how to make it so that those specific levels don't have that category). However, I realize now that may not be the case (some levels may not possess medallions) so these levels wouldn't have a 100% (unless they have trophies/costumes and these are agreed upon to be included for 100%).

tl;dr As of now, it is collect medallions present in a level (for those that don't possess any, they should not have a 100% category) unless it is decided trophies and costumes should be included.

I wouldn't be able to go to an AGDQ even if it did get accepted. However, you can still go for it if you still want to submit, but, to be honest, there is such a low chance of this game being accepted. :|

I'm fairly sure 100% means getting all collectibles (silver and gold canisters), getting all gold medals, and unlocking all items (according to a "guide" I looked at, hints don't count toward 100%). I do not know if the piraka items must be built/used in the playground or if they must simply be purchased. From the same guide, it would seem that the Bonus Levels must simply be purchased but not played since they do not have a medal associated with them, but this is unstated.

Is there a reason behind the order the areas (bosses) are done in Any% (other than when they are unlocked)?

Connecticut, USARazorMan977 years ago

That is true, and there is also a DS version. However, these two versions seem to be different in gameplay compared to the console/PC releases, and even to each other. So they would either be separate categories for this leaderboard, or have leaderboards of their own. I'm not really one to speak on which would/should be done tho.

now, that one should have worked, so i think that shows that they patched the lap glitch out of at least the Wii version (and likely the 360 release also), either directly or indirectly. you can try doing other tracks and other distances to see if something else works, but at the very least, i think the lap glitch will not work with the same landmarks on Wii/360 as it does on the other versions

i think I put the Cozy Cone sign because it worked a few times during my testing (on Gamecube), so i figured I'd put that as the reference point, but I think a safer and like more reliable (if it works at all on Wii) would be past the second set of cones. I updated the guide a few moments ago to say that instead.

ok, i found it. and i think it's like dreamseeker said in the comments on the video: you may have not gone far enough back. but it's still possible they fixed it or changed something that made them not work on the Wii

i just went to the one you have on your SRC account. if that's not the one you use, then you should change that asap.

is it unlisted because i don't see it under the "Videos" list on the Youtube channel you provide on your SRC info, which i assume is the youtube account you are referencing. Mind posting a link to the video here?

You can do a no lap glitch (glitchless i guess) run and submit it to the Any% category until such a category is made. Then I believe once that category were made, your run, and other "glitchless" runs already on the board could be transferred over.

this is on the castle crashers wiki, tho not under a particular name, but there it says "Players with very high Agility or characters with chain effect magic can trap the Corn Boss in place by rapidly firing arrows or using their splash attack at him, respectively."

I assume this is what "Corn Husking" is referring to.

To perform the lap glitch on a race, you must go backwards until a certain point. This point can be very far from the finish line or very close. It can be very precise or very forgiving. Anyways, in order to go back a long distance, you must reverse and stop, then reverse and stop, and repeat until you get to the point were the lap glitch will work. You must stop by a certain time, otherwise the fact you are going the wrong way will respawn you too early, so you stop to prevent being respawned.

As for the "turning the camera" thing you mention, that (at least on GCN, but I believe on most, if not all versions) is automatic, not manual. There is a separate camera "mode" for going forward (camera is behind you) and going backward (camera is in front of you). When I was reversing, the camera switched to "going backward" mode. When I came to a stop, the game (I guess) believes I am going forward (or am planning on going forward) so the camera switches to "going forward" mode.

If you (or anyone for that matter) has any more questions pertaining to the lap glitches, ask them here and I'll answer them when I can.
