Hiya mate!! I hope this finds you well. Thank you kindly, I appreciate the comment. Having played Konquest so much, within this enviroment atleast, I've been conditioned to cutting congratulatory dialogues.. but I'll let this one slide ;)
It makes for a fun run, especially now I have the more viable version of the game, that being NTSC over PAL.
There are several regional differences that carry weight when it comes to speedrunning this game. In my case, this run was a long time coming, having grown up with it (casually), it was my bread and butter aswell as my bread and circuses. This game always meant alot to me.
Been world building myself IRL...
Having an active household of 4 kids.. it was finding the time, as I'm sure you could appreciate, there is always something to be done here when in DAD mode. Side note.. I've just spent the weekend with Danny and Carlos (Pesina) this side of the pond. They did an evening event/comic con, Saturday through Sunday. I crewed at the convention, and had the privilege to sit with them for the day.
We also did the pub!! and I have quite an interesting video coming to the channel in light of that.. Bo' Rai Cho LIVE!!
This run did not take long to achieve, and it can be refined my end, but the AI in the latter half of the game.. well, it took on the persona of the victorious tortoise. I have a few things to impliment on my next run, but for now, I'll be taking a break. Thanks again for the comment, tenacious footing my friend.
Thank you for your time and humouring my queries. I appreciate it. All is noted. Have a pleasant day.
Surely the AI is more aggressive and/or sharper on Insane. Also, if you jump at Gluskin and he hits you like I've seen on so many runs, it's over on Insane.. no push-back. You tend to rethink a lot of the daring stuff on Insane, as it results in a reset.. and if you pull it off, it's much more rewarding than squeezing by on a lower setting. As for higher stakes, if you get hit by Gluskin on the easier setting, you are able to recover and progress. On Insane, it's death. Adding more challenge imo.
Glitchless Insane.. is that not a category? The stakes are higher running it on insane, less forgiving. I don't want to submit against people running it on lower difficulties, they can getaway with more. Does glitchless exclude opening doors faster?
Hello there, I hope this finds you well.
I would like to submit a request for a new category. One with no major exploits. An Outlast Whistleblower - Insane run with the following conditions: No OoB. No T-Bag Exploit. No Door Fazing (That which skips/bypasses an area/section/cutscene).
A couple of examples are in the Hospital.. we have the 'button press' trick - where you faze in and out of the room, and stand just outside of the decontamination doors waiting for the inmate to finish killing the doctor. Another is just before the furnace sequence, using the gate to faze through an area, skipping the interaction with Frank. These are huge advantages and 'technically' go out of bounds, I'd say for Frank especially. You faze through debris and skip the entire interaction. The other gives you a head start, fazing in and out of the room you should be confined to.
I'm seeing a few players using the "t-bag" exploit to manipulate the AI into a spectating state, as they slip by and make their time saving getaway. Two primary examples being the one-hit wonders, Chris Walker and Eddie Gluskin. I'd much prefer to see players bait them into a 'Berserk Mode' in order to progress, as stealthing won't cut it in a speedrun.
Regarding Chris Walker (Prison Block), an advancing jump to get by would be commendable and fun to watch, showcasing some good movement and not a manipulation. You can even chance running towards Eddie (1st encounter) as to try and squeeze by, similar to how it's used on 'The Twins' earlier in the run.
With The Twins, if your movement is off/timing they can kill you. It's a neat trick, and entertaining to watch. There is still a threat and a chance it could go wrong.. it takes more skill to do that trick than it does to t-bag the bosses. You save time, but don't skip an area/cutscene/event - you instead engage it and get by on movement/timing. No major exploit.
I'm all for saving time, performing satisfying tricks and dancing with the flashy footwork, but to manipulate the AI in such a way (T-Bag Exploit) renders the game with no immediate threat. We are just left with routing/movement.
So, if you could get back to me and look into making a new category that excludes any major exploits like those listed above, I would appreciate it.
Kindest regards - Luke
That's good to know. Thank you.
Hello there, I have a query..
So, I submitted an Outlast Whistleblower - Insane, No OoB run & can't see it in the 'pending' section. The number of runs I have pending verification look to suggest it went through okay. My Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy run is there... just no visible Outlast runs. Could anybody elaborate on this. Thank you in advance.
