If at some point there is enough people wanting to run them they could be added as a board extension by the my mods. I don't see a reason to have them currently tho since it would be very niche and like only 1 or 2 people interested in them.
Submissions Close in 11 days, get them in while you can. <3
Not sure how anyone is suppose to answer you without context, but if this is an issue with a rejected run how about you dm the mods of the board to ask what the issue was in more detail because they should have provided one to you with the rejection notice. If it's something else then you are missing context.
Generally if your going to start running any game either spend enough time to learn everything you can about it and try things out or if there is other videos and resources available then that means you can be lazier which is generally how things go these days. Seeing as SC is an RTS allot of the run besides going for the objectives is gonna be knowing how the games mechanics work like any game and then trying to capitalize on them. This will obviously require getting decent with skills such as micro-management of various units and tasks. You will learn actually a good amount from watching any number of the IL runs or even FG runs that are already available, but you won't understand much of it till you've played the game enough to know what is being done. So even if you had the resources you still need to build some experience and knowledge of your own first.
Submissions for ARPGME are now open till July 1st! This marks the 5th year for this event.
You can submit your runs at https://oengus.io/marathon/arpgme2021 which is also where the schedule and such will be located.
Hope to once again have a great schedule of amazing submissions.
NieR Replicant v1.2 Rules have been established and discussed within the community to cover the current core set of rules and that of the Any% category at this time.
Please join our Community Discord to learn about the game and speedrunning and discuss all manner of speedster related topics with us.
Again we of the community for the series thank you for your cooperation and understanding during the time of release while everyone was initially playing-through and learning about the game. <3
@GrittgamingIRE submit the run with a note of the level and we will add it if its not already there.
You should not be deleting runs, they should be grandfathered in or moved to archived category(s) and labeled miscellaneous. I am very sure no one would want there time and effort later told to be worthless because at the time they were submitting the rules were different even if the runs no longer fight at all in the current rulesets.
If there is a way to preserve them that would be the best way to do so, deleting/rejected otherwise already verified runs should only be don't if absolutely necessary and this generally is only when the run is either missing video proof or is found to be a cheated submission, which none of those are what this issue currently is.
While I'll continue to do runs as I have been I likely will not be submitting them then due to my disagreements on the current rulesets that were put into place. I know cheating could be an issue but considering how the game preforms and works I don't see any reason to show the whole window when we can enable things to be showing within screen bounds at least for Bizhawk which is what I use for psx runs. I do now have the capability of capturing from hardware now but it would still look just the same as If I used Bizhawk. Anyways thank you picking up on the board and such I'll keep tabs on things here and maybe just share my runs occasionally if anything for the time being.
suggestion is to make both times tracked but have the option to leave the other filled not shown with no times and state that submissions should be filled out according to which category/platform the submission belongs to. And yeah dealing with the backend of the design and finding work arounds has been a pain but its do able.
So there is a few potential issues I foresee with this because of how reply systems in game have been before and how they act. They may not be as accurate as a live recorded run, they can be altered or tampered with much easier then a live run would be or less noticeable if done so. There is other things as well but I'm not saying any of this is true for KF but we would need to as a group explore it more before making an allowance on runs that were not a recorded live attempt.
tbh its impossible to really expect or have them be able to filter that because it just comes across to anyone as a regular vod link but twitch has an automated system that deletes them so its not something preventable on this end. Best recommendation is for the mods to look at the actual video on twitch which then will let them know if its a temporary VOD/Previous Broadcast or and actual permanent highlight or upload.
This is just something that happens when I'm doing verifications every few weeks and takes really no additional effort.
I finally noticed that you had taken over on the board since it appeared that the previous ones went MIA, I had attempted to reach out to one of them via a DM on the site and socials but no responses. I still have been doing runs regardless but I'm happy someone is maintaining the board once again.
I would like to talk tho more specifically about why the rules with emulation are not equivalent to the options we have that most people use as were mentioned, I use Bizhawk and PCSX2 which are most recent updates. I mainly do runs for Omega Boost on Bizhawk but I'm mentioning PCSX2 because that is another commonly used emulation to date which is on level for accuracy with Bizhawk at the very least.
I normally crop my captures to have the nest and loo nice on screen because the bordering and such is fairly ugly to look at, would it be easier just to show some of the display options like fps, frame count and inputs? Anyways thank you for the responses to the original topic I posted, I will get in touch more as needed.
Problem I have with reverting versions and disallowing seasonal runs is that it severally limits and poses problems when it comes to verifying and keeping content and runs competitive on the board. As far as the run in question goes (Thank you to @Kino_Der_Toten for dming that run), its a perfect example of a game breaking bug/glitch that was later fixed but then was circumvented again from tampering with controls to which of the ways it was done in the run is unclear without talking to the runner directly for more info.
There is a few things we can look at doing to sort this and similar potentially issues out but I will speak to the runner first if possible before anything is done. In the meantime I encourage discussion of what things other may suggest we can look into and if its some of the options I'm already exploring, which I will disuse more at a later date.
I do want to do some more cleaning and organizing of this board since the extensions board is a bit more organized then this one after I had moved all the runs over to it that were not standard IL category runs.
Like wise we do need to apply some updates to the rules that will retroactively keep intact the majority of current and future runs. Ideally we want to keep runs as competitive as possible for everyone to do runs regardless of platform since functionally the game is the same across all platforms.
One thing that I was thinking about doing that most other retroactively updated games that speedrunners play on it track the current patch when the run was played on for filtering purposes, tho this wont affect the default ranking but only when selecting the desired patch or range.
DM the run in question and I will have a look at it. If anyone at any point sees a questionable run direct it to either myself or @Kino_Der_Toten .
Runs are generally done on current version since the game is primarily focused on its updates and additional content, we have had this discussion in the past and if it was found to be patched out or removed then previous runs using exploits would be at risk of being removed.
