Why Do Speedrunners Not Do Glitches For SNES Version?

Hello, I just want to know why speedrunners don't use glitches in the All Stars verison of SMB1. I've seen people so the flagpole glitch before. Are glitches more difficult to do on SNES than NES?

Thanks, Mars02

Going for FPG may not really be worth it at this point.

BBG will softlock the game.

What does "Softlock" mean?

United States

It means the game freezes up and you cannot do anything/progress. Like infinite warping, or being stuck in some other type of loop.

There are glitches used in WR like 4-1 with the mushroom block hit turning mario backwards on the flagpole, 4-2 wrong warp, and 8-4 wrong warp.

BBG on the American version softlocks the game while the japanese version does work but BBG does this: and doesn't save any time :(

For FPG it isn't worth it since you can get the "best framerule" by pressing A at the right time on the title in 1-1 and in 4-1 you would need to do perfect pipe jumps to keep the sub-pixels right. Also there are just easier time saves than doing FPG SeemsGood
