I like that change personally as well, noticed it in the new speedruns being on the menu, instead of in the game, but also, didnt want to throw off all those runs. I think making it the button at the end, also is a great way to just know "exactly" when its pressed.... good call!
Haha yeah, i was thinking maybe it was a glitch or something--but they never responded when I reached out! But yeah, like I said 500 to me, during dev, seemed basically impossible(a really good distance I found was like around 300!) But also, as a lifelong gamer myself, I always know people always find a way to max out a game and take it to new heights, sometimes the devs never expected, so I left the max distance way higher....
I've been enjoying your critique, comments and general passion for learning the intricacies of the game. I've always thought Membrane would be a good game to speedrun, since there is such a focus on the creative element to the game, lots of options for players, so cool to see you guys doing that! I was thinking of trying to get a speedrun recorded, just for fun, or are devs not usually supposed to compete lol--you guys are the pros here, enlighten me! ;)
