i personally got a 139 on my first run with a route, so congrats!
it boils down almost 100% to personal prefernece. For example, tyron likes to use the pro controller, but goryuya likes to use joycons, basically if you don't have big thumbs (like me) you should use joycons bc of the downthrow

i'm pretty sure if you update smo on a physical copy to 1.3, it's the same, so as long as the physical is updated to 1.3, there is no difference
you should start from the furthest red coin, so you're really close to the shine when you collect the last red coin, i think that might save time idk
