Sadly also I have to withdraw my runs.
The steam version is allowed. I'm not sure if every glitch works on it, though.
I am not interested in running Castle of Illusion solo since I have some other games I'm looking forward to run. Maybe more #MickeyMickeyMickey some other year.
The inputs you have to do in order to skip the level are meaningful in this case and should therefore be counted into your time. It would make sense to just mention this in the rules rather than starting the timing on power on. (The rules rules need to be updated anyway as they don't specify when the run ends plus hardly anyone likes or uses the SDA timing.).
Additional categories would just be almost the same run with a different name.
I'll just keep on playing with the current any% route and ignore the leaderboard if you're allowed to abuse the bug. For me the issue is this:
Q: Is it faster? A: Technically yes within the current rules and with the RTA/SDA timing. Not from power on or from a soft reset.
Q: Is it fun? A: No.
Q: Do runners want to do this? A: Not me. Don't know about everyone else.
This sounds interesting and terrible at the same time :( I don''t want to play games where skips require literally zero skill and and where manipulation is done before the game even starts and isn't included in your time.
The glitch didn't seem to work if you reset the game after watching Abu in Agrabah. I enjoy the glitch as a novelty but It'd rather require resetting the game before starting a run than wasting minutes just watching demos before every run.
One suggestion from a friend is to make All Stages the main category and accept this glitch in the current Any%, which I would never, ever play anymore. But I'm not a mod here or someone deciding this alone.
Ok, thanks anyway for answering. It's just super annoying that you can't compare activity in different games in the same series. And for a big series, exactly the games I'm interested in disappear from the Sonic series page.
On the other hand, I do want them to disappear from cluttering the front page after a few days. That's where the problem is.
That sounds pretty dumb, front page settings should be separated from this. I think you should see every new run on a series page regardless of your settings. There's no point in seeing latest runs of just a few games that you don't follow.
Another case in point: I've been seeing only these runs for ages on http://www.speedrun.com/valis .
I see new runs in private mode. If i'm logged in in Chrome or Firefox or even my phone, new runs won't show. Maybe there's some weird setting I have disabled.
This is what I see on every device:
EDIT: NOW I GET IT. 'Latest runs' of my followed games appear nowhere in their respective series page. Everything else does. This probably isn't intended behavior. All the games I follow are missing from the image above.
Any idea why 'Latest runs' section doesn't update in http://www.speedrun.com/mickey_mouse_illusion ? World of Illusion has very recent runs, for example.
I doubt those will ever be added, because there would soon be a shitload of categories cluttering the leaderboads. Just those two would add at least four.
But no one is stopping anyone from running just Sonic 3. I did some S&K runs for fun, too :P
I don't see any reason for banning the Saturn version (Original Mode). Just submit a run, if you have one. Someone will look at it then.
But I have no idea where runs with the spindash would go.
Looks good to me. And Quackshot definitely belongs to the Mickey Mouse Illusion series.
Lighnat0r: Normy's Beach Babe-O-Rama player count still shows here as 12, which makes it one of the more popular Genesis games. It might be just a delay of some sort, but just wanted to make sure you are aware of it. http://www.speedrun.com/games#platform=8
Why does this game have 12 players although there's just one actual runner: http://www.speedrun.com/Normys_Beach_Babe-O-Rama/gamestats
Well, even 10m is as arbitrary as it gets and actually beating the game should be the 'main category'. And milliseconds aren't really needed for 100m.
Everyone does it a little bit differently, keep on trying different angles. I, for example, jump to 5 o'clock direction and then turn right in the air. Essentially, it is just a simple jump on the branch. It took me hours to do get it the first time :D
Yeah, Tree Skip has been tested to work on all platforms. Hold the analog stick at about 4:30 ("o'clock"), and you'll get it eventually. Keyboard also works, but most people use a controller.
I can do any of the Genesis games. Quackshot would obviously be my first choice and after that, maybe WoI and CoI, in that order. I can bring my Mega Everdrive if needed.
