To make this a bit easier, I done made a google doc to submit stuff: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1KFR5k0cOI4AitMRVCsWoBlS2mTOfsRPy_Skx5FKlfxo/viewform?usp=send_form
Snerck, Zoton, I'll share you the results sheet at some point or something.
I'd certainly be happy with the same time (or even earlier, if we don't get any Ameridoodahs in). Also I'ma run on PS2. I need to reclaim that WR Kappa
I'm game again, if I'm around. Though I'm going out Sunday for lunch, and working Saturday from 4ish. So work out a time between you guys and I'll see if I'm in
So I recently bought a GV-USB2 for streaming, using OBS. I think I managed to install the drivers and everything properly. But every time I start stream, the game footage doesn't show until I change the video standard to PAL M, switch the input off and on, and change it back to PAL B (I'm UK based). Once I get it showing, the footage works until I stop stream.
Has anyone had this happen before, and do you know how I might fix it? I'd rather not use anything like Amarec if I can get away with it, and just stream straight into OBS.
Oh, one other bit of feedback for Flicky/Planks: There was no setup time in the schedule. So we fell behind pretty rapidly. I'm sure that was deliberate, to fit as much into the time as possible, but if we get longer streaming time that's probably an idea.
My feedback: Having speakers for the commentary (and game sound) was really good, and actually managed to bring us in an audience. We should try to have that throughout, if it's feasible, though main stage noise was pretty variable.
It was nice to have the space in the evenings, so 24 hour space would be amazing. Getting kicked out at 6 on Sunday was pretty awful, so I guess agreeing a kick-out time beforehand with the event, and having the schedule finish some time before that would be a good idea.
3 a year is a lot, but it might spread out well if runners have different times that work. I have no idea on that, but I suppose seeing how the next year goes is a good indicator.
I think that's pretty much it, other than that it was awesome and I'll definitely try to come in December.
Sounds good to me!
So it'd be cool to make this a weekly thing. I probably can't make next week, unless I take my PC to Insomnia, so I'm staying out of timing this time OpieOP
I guess keeping a Skype group going probably is a good way to organise this, though. Maybe.
The schedule has already come out here: http://www.speedrun.com/insomnia/schedule
Just clarifying, the time I said is in just over 12 hours. I don't know if that helps with this forum setup, but oh well
I think the difference is that we don't get a seat in the big LAN mega room, but we ARE free to go around the exhibition hall, and stuff like that. At least, that's the impression I've got.
Yeah, it'll only work on PC. We'll still order the leaderboard by time WITH loads, but we'll have the extra information there if people choose to use the plugin. Consoles will still be the same as before - you're welcome to go through a run and calculate time spent loading, but it'll be just as tedious as it was before (sorry)
So we've got vaguely UK and AUS people so far (in terms of timezones - please don't kill me). If this is kickstarting weekly races again (which I hope it will), we ought to try to include USA if possible, though I have no idea of Bill and LP3's timezones.
Best time I can think of is 1pm GMT on Saturday (2pm in London, 11pm in Melbourne, 9am in Washington). Sound roughly ok?
This website is pretty cool for timezones - http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/?pl=1&lid=2643743,2158177,5368361,5&h=2643743
So Zoton and I have been working on a script for Livesplit, which pauses the timer when the game is loading. We think it's pretty much ready for release, but it seems a good idea to make a thread and take suggestions before we do.
Spoilers: anything I say in this post could be wrong and Zoton might jump in and correct me.
How it works: The script looks at memory addresses that the game uses, and uses them to detect if it's loading (and what kind of load it is). Livesplit then pauses its 'Game Time', which runs alongside real time. Presumably this will only work on the one .exe we've used (which is the one we both got online to avoid playing from disc), but in theory it shouldn't be a problem for someone to swap to this if need be.
The loads it detects are:
- Loading into a new level
- Loading to a mission (after using Mission Select)
- Loading a mission (briefly, before the mission description appears)
- Loading the main menu
As it stands, we can't detect the loads when entering/exiting a building, nor loading into a cutscene (if this IS a load), so the timer continues through these regardless.
The timer DOES carry on when in the bonus game (lol), or when the game is closed.
We'll make the load remover separate from the autosplitter (I think), which splits when loading from one level to the next (but is easy to change to split between any given pair of levels - see my 100% stuff)
Any questions/suggestions/objections/memes/corrections? Once we get a vague consensus, Zoton can make it available through Livesplit.
I can actually commit to this now! I can run The Simpsons: Hit & Run, 100% (est. 4:20), or if that's too long, All Story Missions (est. 1:50). Ideally not on the 28th (potential maybe job interview), but I'll probably be there all weekend.
Flicky - I've sent you an email with my name.
If you use the frame limiter in the Lucas Mod Launcher, you can set it to not limit during menus and load screens, so that's not a problem.
Hey, I didn't notice this until now ( FailFish ). We usually chat in each others streams, so following other H&R runners is probably a good start! Pet_Petiguana does have a Mumble server we sometimes use (though at the moment it's often empty), so it could be worth messaging him (on Twitch/Twitter, say) to ask for the details.
Ok, I'd love to come to this, in which case I'd run The Simpsons: Hit & Run, either All Story Missions (est. 1:50) or 100% (est. 4:20 blaze it). But I don't want to commit and then get a job and have to drop out, so I'ma wait until 2 weeks before this starts before confirming either way. If you think that's too late, let me know and I'll do something else, I guess Kappa
