they are only bringing back the towers. Also, at the start i felt the same but i got used to it now and also tye superball is better and the tools are client sided so you can have 300 ping and still be good.

I'm pretty sure it is to do with ROBLOX's collisions as well

a way to increase the chances of a quick base fall is to time the bomb placing and rocket shots so that you shoot the rocket like 0.25 seconds before the bomb explodes. sometimes it blows the towers above the blocks at the bottom so it doesnt make much contact (sometimes it makes no contact at all)

you said the private server win category was RNG too, right?
