In the 1 pencil 1st and 2nd place runs, it seems like the sharpeners being used are modified in some way (most apparent at the end of 2nd place run). If i'm wrong, my bad but I think the rules should be clearer about what a "regular" pencil sharpener is and disallow any modifications.
