Wouldn't that also fall under NG+? The rules don't specify as such and assumes you can play on a new file, with only a randomizer on the final 5 levels.

Title. I'm not certain how this factors in, considering the bonus levels in this that exist for Challenges and 100%-ing each map.

If DLC is considered a factor for in-game progress, consider doing DLC/Non-DLC for (Extreme) Grand Master.

Title. Been having this issue since I started finishing Any% runs -- does this include time spent in menus + cutscenes?

Requirements: Unlock and beat the Classic Maze. Cheat codes disqualify.

I'm also considering checking for the Pac-Boogie cutscene.

Should be a fun 2+ hour run.

Maelstrom is the final mode of the game, featured on ranks 8 and 9. This mode is started by filling up the lower left target bank, and is a series of objectives that must be completed one by one. By finishing that mode, completely fills up the blue lights and lights up everything for big scores. Oh, and on Full Tilt!, it throws in multiball as well.

It'd be very fitting to have this as a main category. I still have my 22:51 that was previously verified for Fleet Admiral, if it's possible.

I'm crazy for suggesting this as a full-game category. Doesn't include any DLC courses, but would make for quite an interesting run.

It has come to my attention that balls being released from the locks are actually faster when resetting for new runs. In fact, the method for getting the ball on the right flipper from the far left lane is so consistent that it's faster to do this method than to plunge the ball normally. While it benefits by saving time, it also takes time to set up the locks properly.

I went ahead and decided to split the categories between those that use this method and those that do it the normal way.

For the memes? Making FPS-Man before FPS-Man was ever made.

Knowing the locations of all ghosts can be surprising or scary, so I'm suggesting that Invincibility be also activated if this category is ever run. Could avoid a LOT of surprise deaths.

It is currently impossible to reset progress, in-game, on Adventure Mode without deleting the actual save files.

Xbox One and PS4 users are in this sketchy situation where Adventure Mode is locked until a requirement is met in Score Attack (in turn, must also be unlocked by the Tutorial). And no one wants that. Those platforms may be unreliable for runs until Bandai Namco provides a solution, unless you are willing to give an hour to unlock Adventure Mode for another go at Any% or 228.

EDIT: I have looked at the save file, and while you do have to redo the tutorial, you'll need D's in courses you need to unlock Adventure Mode. Theoretically, if you fail (lose all lives) with a D, you'll still unlock new courses and, eventually, Adventure. It could help slash recovery times even further.

Switch players have it easy on the other hand. Have a 2nd profile ready for runs. Adventure Mode is already unlocked for you, so just be cautious on which saves you're deleting (personal vs speedrun) before doing an attempt.

Regardless, for all consoles, have a separate save or profile for speedrunning, just in case. Not sure how it works on XB1 or PS4, but it's the only alternative I can think of if you want your scores intact. Back up your normal save as well, if you don't want your high scores lost.

Essentially a similar thread as the first Pac-Man game. There would be ones for Acts 1, 2, and 3 (Stages 2, 5, and 9 respectively), as well as Stage 21, where the ghosts are no longer vulnerable.

As for the kill screen, well, maybe not in this case.

I was thinking about adding things like the first three intermissions (Stage 2, Stage 5, etc.), but I'm not sure how difficult that would be.

This is just something I'm thinking about as ideas for this game; it showcases more of the game other than just the 10,000 point goal.

I've been inspired by speedrunning ever since most of the GDQ events, and I'm willing to run some more over time. I've already done some Pac-Man games as well as Bejeweled (Zuma is still a work in progress), and I'm hoping to get some more pinball games on the site.

I really enjoy pinball, and aside from getting high scores, there's a community for speedrunning certain pinball objectives, called "Pinball Done Quick." Right now, I'm trying to start out with getting the Pro Pinball series here first. I'm not sure how Pinball Arcade will work out, considering that there are 80+ tables present in the game (and still more to come). Going to be a heck of a project though!

Noticed that Pac-Man Arrangement (Battle Collection version) is also on the PC version of Pac-Man Museum for Steam.

Am I able to run this game, even though I don't own Battle Collection?

I tried to upload the splits form LiveSplit onto the i/o, but for some reason it's only showing Real Time. I did edit the IGT splits with all the correct times. Should I include something in the description to link to the IGT splits?

Just trying to edit them in mid-run would just kill the run to me. I'd rather keep things fresh and exciting than have a stop-and-go run.
